There came a point in my life when I would just pig out. I'd eat everything that came my way, and I still wouldn't gain weight.
Even though I would be constantly eating like I've never eaten before, I could only eat like that around my family. Around other people, I feel somewhat uncomfortable stuffing my face with food. I mean, it just doesn't look right. I'm one of those people that would seem as if I'd walk into a restaurant and order a salad.

I recently fell into this deep depression, and I dramatically dropped a few pounds. I can't seem to get them back.
I can't really try stuffing my face again, (it didn't bring back much results) I'm always with my boyfriend and it just seems kind of weird If I sneak off to eat a burger when he's not looking. Or pretent to hug him while I take a bite out of a taco.
I eat nice, square meals a day, but how can I speed this up w/out him noticing I'm eating every half hour?

Gaining weight is simple.. weight when it comes to losing or gaining is a numbers gain.. it has to do with calories.

Everyone's body expends (uses) a particuliar number of calories a day (which is based on their current weight and height and activity level)

Say yours body expends 1500 calories a day.. (the calorie-counter.com website.. it has a thing on there where you can input your information and it will tell you how many calories a day you expend.)

Anyway.. for my example, we'll say your body expends 1500 calories a day.. all you need to do is eat more than that number of calories a day and you will gain weight.

Example.. you expend 1500 calories.

You eat some fast food burger, fries, and shake.. 700 calories
You have a bowl of cereal with 2% milk 400 calories
You have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.. 400 calories

Right there.. that's 1500 calories.. not including milk, non diet soda's, juices, and a third meal..

Here's the thing.. 1 lb is equal to 3500 calories.. so if you can eat an additional 500 calories a day .. then you should gain 1 lb a week. (500 calories X 7 days in a week=3500)

So go to the calorie-counter website.. do a profile and chose the option to learn your current number of calories your expending.. and then eat that number of calories plus 500..

500 calories additional a day is nothing.. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich as a snack and a glass of milk covers that right there.

A bowl of cereal with 2% milk would be pretty close to that too.

Your boy friend won't notice something so subtle..and you'll gain the weight in a healthier way then just pigging out.

I'm one of those that is overweight and I know why. I eat all the wrong foods, I like all the wrong foods and I eat to many of them. Biscuits cakes chocolates sweets etc. I also can't pass a bakery shop without tryng a savoury item. So every now and then I go on a major diet to lose a bit of weight. This involves major food changes whole milk to skimmed milk, full fat yogurts to diet yogurts, butter to low fat sunflower spread absolutely yuk. Also other changes the snacks mentioned have to be reduced and exchanged for fruit. Pastries are not allowed but protein in small portions with as much salad or vegetables is fine.

Exercise is the other important factor, as believe me I have eaten all the right foods for several weeks without exercise and guess what? .... bah humbug.. no weight loss.

Its not usual for someone to ask how to put weight on normally people want to take weight off.

So before you ask the question how to put weight on, you should ask yourself why? Why do I need this weight on, are you underweight for your height and bone structure?

Also if you indicate that you are secretly munching every half hour have you got one of those ever popular food disorders instead. A phobia about being seen eating. So you secretly eat. Does your inner self tell you that you are overweight and you secretly try to throw up after eating a meal.?

These few pounds that you want back does there loss in your view alter your appearance? Have you spoken with your boyfriend and asked him what he feels about you the way you are? If not maybe you should, and I bet he will tell you that he loves you as you are, and that your weight or appearance is fine.

A chart on my GP's wall tells me that five portions of fruit salad or vegetable should be eaten everyday and that all other portions of protein should be restricted to 4 or 6oz, I suppose this is good if you are health conscious. If not and you really need this weight for health reasons, why not consult your GP and he may prescribe a supplement.

I wish you the very best of luck whatever you decide to do.

You shouldn't force yourself to eat more than your body is comfortable with, it's just as unhealthy as denying your body food.

The way they do it in the hospital is to eat your three regular meals plus three small snacks, but with every meal they add a supplement if the patient needs to gain weight. ENSURE is a very popular supplement/ meal replacement. It's just a shake that comes in different flavors (best served cold on ice) like chocolate, vanilla, strawberry.
BOOST is another one, and even SLIM-FAST can be used.

Since they contain complete nutrition plus calories, if you drink one or two of these shakes per day with your meal, you should be able to slowly gain weight over the next few weeks without the empty unhealthy calories and discomfort of fast food.

___PS: you can find these suppliments in the health food isle of your drugstore, as well as some Zellers and WalMarts

You need to go to the Doctor and see if you have a medical condition that prevents you from gaining weight. If you are getting depressed than maybe that is some of your problems. You need to eat three good meals a day, plus snacks in between, that will help you stabilize. Don't worry what someone else thinks, you do what makes you healthy.

you need a high protein and carbohydrate diet while doing very little exercise. im completely jealous i just look at food and i can feel the lbs go on. why do you need to put on weight? surely you're a healthy size and if you're not i think you should visit your gp as there are conditions that can make you lose weight such as a thyroid problem and all these should be ruled out rather than assuming a high metabolism.

good luck

Even though you don't put on weight can eating lots of unhealthy food be good for you?

I really would consider talking to a dietician (someone who knows what they are talking about).

Good luck!
