Try to remember that a whole bunch of other people feel the same way you feel. Any time we are faced with new circumstances, we can be a little uncertain. The other freshmen feel like you do, too. The teachers usually understand that you might have trouble finding your classes, and there should be someone who can help you find them. Get a lock from the store and practice on it. Even if it is not just like the one you will have on your locker, it will help you to get more comfortable working one. Just work it over, several times. Then, when you to to school, write your combination down, and get used to working the lock on your locker. See if you can get a map of the school, and that would help you look up where your classes are. Remember that all the sophmores, juniors and even the seniors were once freshmen, too. They managed to get through it, and are probably wondering what they were really worried about a couple of years ago. In about a week, you will even wonder what you worried about, if you just take it one day at a time. There should be people there to help you find your classes. Just ask, if you can't find one. Remember, the lockers should be in numerical order. The classes should be, too. And if the classrooms are out of order in a particular hallway, ask where the room is you are looking for.

The first day is always the worst. You feel flustered. You feel like you have no control. You feel overwhelmed. But take confidence in knowing, that after tomorrow, it will be a piece of cake to find your classes, open your locker, make it to the cafeteria, etc...

Teachers expect Frosh to be scared, confused, and lost on thier first day of high school, so don't be too hard on yourself, because it's likely they won't be.

And, if you become truly lost, just ask someone. Someone in your school will know where to find that particular room you are looking for. Someone there is a locker lock pro. Someone there is just as hungry at lunch and happens to be headed to the caf.

You'll be fine. Trust me.

You're not the only one!!! Promise. Tomorrow, you'll be part of a little society of people in your grade and in your high school who are scared, confused, nervous, and feeling alone. But none of you are alone! Your friends also won't know where things are or how to open their lockers. Don't worry. Your teachers will help you out, and it won't be as bad as you think. You can totally do this. Good luck!

Just try to relax. Everyone is at least a little nervous the fist day of anything. Even adults. Have a notebook or pen and paper ready to write any questions (and answers) down. When people get scared or nervous they tend to forget or make more mistakes. Take a deep breath. Pray for God to guide you if you do pray. Most people will be looking for their new classes. You'll be fine and every day will get easier.

There maybe something you're not telling us,
here. But, if I were you, the first thing I'd do is
talk to the school's principal.
If, after hearing your problem, they suspect--
as I do--that you might be suffering from some
sort of condition like depression, you will be
able to talk to the school councilor.
But your overall mental well-being is a much
more matter than your grades; because, if you
aren't feeling well, you can't possibly do well
in your classes.

Good luck.

I already started high school on August 27, the first day its easy because first you have to get to know your teachers and find where your classes are, try to see if you see any of your old friends from middle school or make new friends.

Don't worry about it! It will be fine!

I get nervous before the 1st day of school every year.

Freshman year they give you a chance to find your classes, so you can be late to your class and not have to worry. Maybe you should ask one of you parents to drive you to school early so you can learn how to open/find your locker. or you can ask a teacher before hand on how to open it and they will help you!

The first day of high school is alot like the first day of jail. Find the biggest meanest looking kid you can and beat the crap out of him. That or become somebodies b****. Seriously though think of it this way. 4 years from now your never going to have to see the people you embarassed yourself infront of again. So dont freak out its just another step in life everyone has been through. Oh and dont panic. Bullies can smell fear.

Ignore the first answer...I felt the same way my first day of high school. Now I teach first grade and I wish for the care free days of high school. Lots of kids are going to be feeling the same way you are...just try talking to someone and you will be fine.
