It's not acid that cleans your teeth, it's the abrasive action biting and chewing of the apple. An apple is better than nothing, but not much.

schumigirl's got it right! there is a big explaination of Fl- atoms being leeched out because of the more "-" OH molecules in the apples citric acid. weekening your teeth making them more susceptible to decay

I don't know but for me after I eat an apple my mouth does feel cleaner

it is in the apples skin.if you peel the apple you do not get the same benefit,it also aids in digestion.it is pepsin i think.good luck.
