Eat good food. Give up junk food, pop and fast food. Start exercising. Eat alot of lean protein like fish and chicken and alot of fresh vegetables and food. Get a cardio workout at least 4 days of the week for 20 minutes or more.

First of all, make sure you actually need to lose weight. Use the calculator in the link below to see if your current weight is healthy.

At 13, your body is starting to make hormones that will lead to a growth spurt and you may "fatten up" a little bit first. To maintain or get to a healthy weight, make sure you get exercise like walking, biking, playing sports for an hour or two every day. Limit your time watching TV or using the computer -- spend that time outdoors! Don't eat junk food, do eat a well balance diet with lots of fruit and veggies and milk.

First stop and take a moment. Each persons body type is different - so 130 might be just fine for you. Second you are still growing - every growth spurt starts by growing out (wider) first then growing up (taller). You may feel overweight but could be just in the middle of a natrual healthy growth spurt. Third - decide how you want to look...not what weight or size you want to be. At 150lbs I'm too large but my friend is 180lbs and skinny. The difference is our body types and heights (she's taller than I am). Picking a weight or pant size is often unrealistic and more damaging to your feelings than trying to be healthier in general. Start the year new - focused on what you eat and how active you are - rather than your size. Eat three meals a day (if you don't your body will go into "starvation" mode and every calorie you eat even if you only eat once a day will be stored as fat by your body to prevent famine). Make sure that you eat the right serving size - look on the back of a package it will tell you - alot of weight comes from eating too much. Make sure your diet includes alot of fruits, veggies, and protiens but only small amounts of fats and sugars. Don't be afraid to treat yourself but with small portions. A happy meal is just as filling but far less calories and bad fats than a full size meal. Limit eating out and junk food to once or twice a week. Make sure you get plenty of daily activity - walking, running, biking, swimming, or just dancing in your room to your fav band. Everyday for at least 45min to an hour. 130lbs of muscle is far more attractive than 130lbs of fat - so walk to your friends instead of getting a ride, excersise while watching tv, and way less junk food. The rest will take care of it's self. To help you learn about calories, fat, and cardio excersise - you can't achieve what you don't understand - visit these two sites. One will give you a customized food pyramid so you know your getting the right nutrition - the other will give you an idea about activities and foods....just remeber that 10 calories of healthy foods is not the same as 10 calories of junk - don't count calories when it comes to fresh unsweettened fruits and veggies - it takes more calories to digest then they have - serving sizes are more important. Good luck
