I'm looking to find the cheapest 9mm ammunition for range/target practice. I can get 100 for $15.76 at Wal-Mart but would like to find ammo even cheaper. Also, is reloading even worth looking into for 9mm? If so, how much per bullet can you reload for?

Walmart is probably the cheapest for ammo. As for reloading, 9mm is really not worth reloading if being used for targer practice. The price is about the same as it is to buy it. The only reason you would want to reload 9mm is if you want to customize your ammo.

Unfortunately no ammo is cheap these days. I have seen UMC go on sale for $14.99 at best, but that is it.

If you reload, there will only really be a cost savings if you cast your own bullets or use the cheaper copper plated bullets.

When I reload using Winchester Small Pistol Primers, Range pick brass, Unique Powder and home cast bullets from wheel weights; I can load a 50 round box for around $4.50, excluding electricity costs for bullet casting.

Stick with WallyWorld ammo for cheap 115gr in bulk if you shoot American and do not mind SAAMI specs for ammo. Bulk russian is probably cheaper but it uses steel cases that can scratch up a feed ramp. Reloading for 9mm? Definitely worth looking into if you want to shoot 147gr subsonic target rounds. These are not sold cheaply in factroy form.

I buy all of my plinking ammo at walmart. It's hard to beat 100 count Federal 9mm ammo for $19.95 plus %6 tax. if you want to get into reloading, then go for it. i don't competition shoot and I don't shoot all day long or shoot everyday, so i don't mind at all spending 21 bucks for 9mm ammo. Personally, i don't care to pick up another hobby by reloading. more crap to buy that i don't need. keep giving me thumbs down folks.

That's less than 16 cents a round, pretty cheap.

You will find bulf ammo cheaper, but by the time you pay shipping you will be around the same price.

i think walmart is the cheapest around. unless you reload your own in mass amounts. my dad used to reload. not sure what that cost is.
maybe you should ask a local gun shop if you can order x amnt of cases for x cheap price.... they might hook you up
