Prayer is asking for something but it's also a way to communicate with God, the holy spirit, Jesus or whomever a person believes in.
I'v had my prayers answered and prayers I've made for people I care about. True prayer to me is talking with the Holy Spirit and I think prayer is one way I can change things. I pray for positive things to occur and I pray at any time.

Praying is basically just talking to God. He ALWAYS listens and does answer our prayers. However, he may not give us the answer we like or want but he always answers them. We need to remember that he knows best.
There are so many ways to pray. We can use the words Jesus taught us in "The Lord's prayer" or other prayers we know or we can name our own or even just tell God about our day. It's all good , just don't forget to pray to God during the good times not just the bad.

Prayer is spending time contemplating the beauty, love and mercy of Christ. It is withdrawing from the world and entering into the eternal mystery of God. In prayer we can forget our troubles, failings and weaknesses for a moment and enjoy the peace and forgiveness that comes to us from Christ.

Trust in Him at all times, ye people, pour out your heart before Him. God is a refuge for us.
When you pray don't pray like the ignorant do with vain repetitions. Pray like this: Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver is from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
That is the model of prayer that Jesus, God's Son, gave us. Now in an emergency it is quite permissable to pray, help Lord. That will do. My car caught on fire while I was driving 55 mph. I prayed, JESUS!!! and suddenly I saw a puddle of water and drove right through it. The water doused the fire from my catalitic converter which was cherry red for hours afterward. I was within moments of being swallowed up by fire. My prayer shot up to God's throne and there was no doubt He heard.

prayer is lifting your mind and heart towards God. It can be meditative and contemplative or it can be intersecessory, it can be in petition and asking, and it is in waiting for the answer in trustful patience on God to give the answer.

Prayer is like talking to an imaginary supreme being.
If, for example, you ask god to give a new leg to Mr. Gibby, an amputee, that is prayer.
You can pray for a new leg for Mr.Gibby til you're blue in the face, and it won't happen.
If I'm mistaken on that, please correct me; and give me the documentation that shows who got new leg from god and when and where, etc.
