I am so confused with Nascar! It seems to me they don't like Jeff Burton! This is not the first time they have denied him of a sponsor! Jeff Burton is a great driver and has done nothing but good things to Nascar. Nascar should be ashamed of themselves. Jeff Burton deserves to be treated better by them!

PAPABILL...Shut down the 31 team? Wow I'm suprised at that answer! RCR wouldn't do that. If needed Jeff Burton will find another sponsor!

NASCAR SHOULDN'T GRANT THESE EXCLUSIVE CONTRACTS BECAUSE THEY CAUSE TOO MANY CONFLICTS WITH CAR OWNER'S SPONSORS. THEY ALSO DIDN'T LIKE HARVICK'S PAINT SCHEME OR UNIFORM DESIGNS BECAUSE SUNOCO PAYS FOR GASOLINE RIGHTS TO NASCAR ALSO.THE BEST WAY TO STOP THESE CONTRACTS IS NOT PURCHASE THE EXCLUSIVE PRODUCTS AND TELL THOSE COMPANIES THAT YOU DONT AND WHY,BECAUSE THAT'S ALL THE CARE ABOUT IS THIER BOTTOM LINE!!!

When Nextel took over sponsorship of the Cup series, they allowed any of their competitors currently sponsoring teams to remain in place, but made it so that no others could come in. Now that AT&T has bought out Cingular, they are saying that it is a new company, and they are not allowing them as sponsors. However Jeff Burton is a great driver/role model of the sport and should have no problem securing another sponsor for next year, if these issues cannot be resolved.

it's nothing personal it's all about the money since nascar is now sponsored by nextel cup there cannot be another wireless carrier like at&t they own bellsouth, cingular, cingular one and are in direct competition with nextel for wireless communications. the grandfather clause stated that at&t could NOT change the cingular logo to at&t until cingular's sponsorship contract of the 31 expired, regardless of being bought out if nextel had purchased cingular nextel could NOT be on the hood of burton's car so he runs w/o a sponsor unless someone else buys out the primary sponsor b4 the end of the season, unlikey to happen or at&t could agree to let the 31 run with the cingular logo
otherwise burton's team will NOT be allowed to qualify or race in trim with the at&t logo
hey did you get my burton autograph :)

They don't not like Jeff Burton. The reason they don't want AT&T's logo on the car is because AT&T (who bought out Burton's original sponsor, Cingular) is a major, major rival of Sprint (who bought out NASCAR's original sponsor, Nextel)

It's not anything about Burton. All this would be happening with any other driver.

If you put up 30 to 100 million to sponsor a series, your going to want a few provisions. One of those contract provisions is restricting your competition from making money on your sponsorship. If Google puts their name on a Stadium, do you think the stadium should post advertising for Yahoo?

Cingular and Alltel were both already in the series, so they got to stay. When AT&T bought Cingluar, they merged with AT&T. The contract was not for AT&T, it was for Cingular only. Cingular agreed to the contract, and AT&T wants to break the contract.

And if you complain about Nextel and Sprint, Nextel probably put it in the contract about a merger and they were allowed one name change during the contract.

It's not NASCAR, it's Sprint that's causing this latest problem. It's also not a personal conspiracy against Jeff Burton. Calm down.

NASCAR being sponsored by a cell phone company(NEXTEL/SPRINT) says its "sponsorship" infrindgement if
R C R continues to use the "ATT" logo and name.
So NEXTEL-NASCAR sued.
RCR loses a major sponsor, thus this team could have to shut down due to lack of funds.
