Silly_me answered most of it. You might also want to have a wire whisk, a cheese shredder, wooden spoons, soup ladle, tongs for salad and for turning over chicken pieces, potato masher, strainer, meat thermometer, egg slicer and rolling pin. You can use a glass to cut out biscuits so you don't need a biscuit cutter. My husband tried to use a glass for a rolling pin once - took 3 stitches in his hand. So the rolling pin was a must for us - he just pressed too hard.

It will all depend on what type of cooking are you planning to go into.

You can start off with a good stove that can provide a large flame if needed.

Thick bottom pans and pots will always be good.

Two types of knives. A cleaver for chopping and small knife for light and detailed work,
