My sister says that she likes to date guys who are "okay" looking because she wont have to worry about other girls trying to steal him away from her. I dont want to ask her why, but can anyone relate?

Ahem. To those who think I am shallow, I am not saying that the men she dates are "ugly". She said it herself that she doesnt like to date attractive looking guys. There. And try to understand. Geez.

I used to do that, because I used to feel that I didn't have to worry about their loyalty and they didn't feel as if they had to try so hard to be pretty. Then I got cheated on by an "okay" looking guy which showed me most are all the same cute or not, and started dating more my level I guess, and now I'm engaged to a beautiful guy.

I must admit I know this logic. I've dated some handsome men and also some "fell out of the ugly tree and landed on every branch on the way down" men. There's an old theory that the ugly ones "try harder" when it comes to satisfying you.
Who knows? The idea that she ONLY goes for those she deems "ugly" has more to do with feeling like she isn't good enough to date someone she finds visually attractive. She has the fear of losing them instead of assuming that they would want to be with her.
I understand, though.

If that is ur sisters choice who r-u-to question what she does as she says guys who r OK!
It is not on the outside of a person that makes that person a person it is whats on the inside character,heart,personality OK so if that is she wants to prevent other girls from taking her man away from her which I think is shallow as well than so be it leave her alone and let her do what she wants to do does she interfere with u-n-ur girlfriends.

you're sister has a low self esteem for one thing. but look on the bright side, the ugly guys and nerds typically treat their women better because they know that they have to compete with guys with looks, money, popularity, etc.... just be a good brother and look out for red flags that show it's an unhealthy relationship. when you are in the relationship yourself, it's hard to see why it's a bad relationship because they will say"but i love them". you always hear that in abusive relationships.
and for all you women out there that will say otherwise about looks--
you're out shopping, you see a product you want to buy. do you buy the box that is straight and brand new, or do you buy the box that is bent out of shape and faded? PACKAGING DOES MATTER!

In a way I agree with your sister, but nowadays ugly men are becoming the cream of the crop because they tend to treat their women like queens.

It sounds like maybe she is insecure, however, it's no more shallow than someone dating someone just b/c they are good looking. She should look more inside the person. However, she is on to something in a way. Good looking pple tend to be more full of themselves.

Could just be a preference or it could also be some issues with being abandoned and low self esteem (ie: I'm not pretty enough, I'm not skinny enough, I'm not good enough, etc.) If she is dating someone beneath her (I know that's not the best way to say it, but you know what I mean) then it may be a desire to constantly be better than someone, to control them, and to have someone look up to them.

That's ridiculous. She has low self-esteem. The bottom line is, no girl 'steals' your bf, the guy chooses to cheat. She really needs to find someone that is trustworthy and deal with her own issues.

and hot guys are usually not just hot to one girl
my x was constantly jealous about what other girls said to her about me-like David is my kinda guy, and He is soooo cute.
I had to deal with her anger, and she was to others very very beautiful but her low self esteem made her constantly work on that.

I CAN RELATE BECAUSE THE BOYFRIEND IS NOT N UGLY GUY BUT HE ISN'T THE MOST HANDSOMEST AND I CHOSE TO BE WITH HIM BECAUSE I KNOW GIRLS WOULDN'T BE TOO INTERESTED IN HIM. HE IS ALSO A SWEET LOVING GUY. SOMETIMES WE NEED TO LOOK ON THE INSIDE MORE THAN THE OUTSIDE
