You've posted a two-part question, requiring two separate answers. First, I can't think of something being invented that wasn't needed to solve a problem in the first place. Call it corny, but a number of years ago a bunch of us, bored to tears, watched a "Cartoon Planet" episode featuring Space Ghost. One sketch featured him and his friends explaining, among other things, that someone invented a can, then, a can opener. We were laughing hilariously about this, but the message is implicit--nobody wants to invent something that isn't needed in one form or another.
Now for the second part, no, we didn't invent God (and please observe the spelling of a proper name). The vast majority of peoples on Earth have worshipped something, whether the God of the Bible or other deities. They who chose to reject the God of the Bible created symbols (idols, e.g.) to represent the various deities they worshipped, but that doesn't mean they invented anything. Please look at the book of Romans, chapter 1, for a thumbnail sketch as to what happened.
You do have an inquiring mind and please accept my thanks for asking the question. I hope we can answer more of these for you.

No. God made us. We need Him because we were created to fellowship with Him and give Him glory - when we're apart from Him, we have a God-shaped void in our heart, whether or not we feel it. He's just hard-wired us like that.
Just remember that the concept you stated doesn't apply to everything. Hope this helps!

a theist will tell you god created people. an atheist will tell you people created god. i think the "necessity" youre talking about is the need to find a purpose to life.
