You can use any standard 2x4 or 2x6 lumber, I'd use 2x6 if your not as worried about cost as it will remain more durable and stronger over a longerperiod of time. You'll alos want to use a Skatelite or something similar (MDF Multi-Density Fiber Board) for the surface of the ramp and make sure you countersink your screw holes before installing them so you don't get any screw heads sticking up or any mushrooming of the Skatelite. Or if you want to make a basic ramp you can use 2x4's and a piece of 3/4 " plywood (don't use 1/2" plywood or you'll end up with an america's funniest video moment when you try and jump it). I often build ramps and stuff out of 2by4s and they hold up well. just make sure that it has braces on the side so it doesn't collapse.
