I mean the second embryo is created AFTER conception, doesn't that mean that the soul gets split in two or something?

Oregon Flower: Yeah, I figured as such, but when is the second soul created? At conception? Does that mean that the first embryo had two souls?
What about siamese twins? Do extra heads have their own souls? Extra arms?

Scriture records the births of only a few sets of twins, and of these, I don't recall any of them being labeled identical. Jacob and Esau were anything but identical, in spite of the fact that God allowed their conception and birth! The only other set that I can think of now, not having my Bible with me, is Perez or Pharez and his brother Zerah, sons of Judah, and they aren't called anything except "twins".
The point I'm trying to make is this: whether frateral or identical twins, each one has a unique soul and each of the twins has to make up his or her mind as to whether or not to worship and serve the Lord. So, no, I don't think that a soul gets split in two, although some scientists (I remember reading this somewhere) state that the human embryo might be split in two. A very interesting question, and I hope others can respond as well.
Sincerely,
Brother Jonathan

I am an identical twin.
We both have our own individual personalities--indicating to me that we are not of one soul.
I do not know when the soul enters the body, but if it did at conception, then it is my guess that God knew beforehand what was happening and created two souls.
Now you've made me think: what about Siamese twins when one of the twins is not fully developed--like when there is only an extra set of legs or arms--as seen on some of those goofy tv shows?

I don't believe in a soul, but the spark of energy that makes a person, is that a soul?
I don't know, but I thought that as soon as the sperm enters the egg the embreo starts to split.
I doubt a soul is a quantifyable thing that can be split, it's not like reincarnation.
In that case, the soul must grow with the person, and they each get a whole one.
interesting.

Why can't two souls be present at the moment of conception?
Even if you don't believe in God, do you believe that there is no difference between an animal and ourselves? (AKA - a soul, moral conscience, free will, etc)
While animals can have emotions and show affection and even be obedient, they don't choose their actions freely as humans do. You can call it whatever you like - but there is still that "something" that seperates us from the rest of the animal kingdom.

Two souls upon the conception of a zygote that will become identical twins.I don't believe the soul\souls are passed from either the mother or the father with their genetic information; the soul\souls are created directly by God.

The egg splits in two pieces, not the spirits. Flesh is one thing, and will not leave the Earth..... spirit is another. When we die our bodies go to the grave, but our spirits go back to God.
