Look there is no law that I know of to prevent this from happening but as a matter of integrity to the dept. I would think they would refrain.
The fact of the matter is that all arrests are a matter of public record and can be easily accessed if someone wants to look. ( Except for minors).
Good Luck
PS- Even though you probably have no recourse I would have a talk with his superiors because this sounds an awful lot like some sort of personal attack to me, and telling the kids , well that's just wrong.

Across the world it tends to be the case that an arrest of a person is a private matter and any law enforcement agency should not tell anyone unless it is in your interest. i.e. someone needs to bail you out, you need medical assistance or your car needs to be collected. However if you are prosecuted the matter goes before a public court, therefor any person who knows about your circumstances can tell anyone, as it is in the public domain - DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!!!!

Arrest reports are public records. Anyone can ask for the report and receive it under the "Freedom of Information" act.

Actually, if you are an adult it is public information, and they pretty much have to tell anyone who asks under federal/state right to know laws.

I have to agree with CGIV76. Anyone CAN tell anyone. They usually shouldn't, but they can. Are they allowed? That depends on factors you did not include.

They can tell anyone, print it in the newspaper, or show it on television, and if you were actually driving around drunk, good for them if they do.
