Pure aloe vera gel, from the plant, or from the health food store.
Alternate applications of aloe vera gel, and cool compresses every hour while awake.
Try wet, wrung out tea bags to worst areas.
Take motrin or aspirin evey 4-6 hours for inflammation.
DON"T use any scented, alcohol, added anything products - they will keep the heat in your skin. After sunburn doesn't feel so hot - two days or so - apply good quality, unscented moisturizer.

That's really good that you are using Aloe Vera, it's the healing plant! If you have the plant, take the skin off and rub all of that gooey gel stuff all on your sunburn.

Take care

If you don't have the plant itself then I would go with gel simply because you can cool the gel in the fridge quickly and it feels awesome going on.

I always like the gel better. Put it in the refrigerator for about an hour before you put it on and it will feel better too.

I like the gel, and I always keep it in the fridge so It'll feel ten times better when I put it on.

Neither way. They work only temporarily. Try adding 1 cup of apple cider vinegar to a cool bath water, and soak in it for a bit. The smell will evaporate, so it is probably better to do it before you go to sleep.
