Hi, The IRS sent me a letter saying there is a discrepency with my 2005 return, but I can't open the 2005 file any longer to take a look. The file is still on my laptop. Maybe because when I installed TT 2006 it removed 2005??

Any ideas? Thanks

Normally when you install Turbo tax 2006 it does not remove Turbo tax 2005.

For future, when you complete your return, make sure to save a pdf of it. Turbo tax lets you save the pdf.
Then send the turbo tax file and the pdf as attachments to your own email address. If anything happens to your hard drive, you still have backup.

TT 2006 won't read the 2005 file. You'll have to reinstall TT2005.

The IRS letter should have said just what they thought the discrepancy is. If you don't have a copy of your return, and can't get the 2005 file open, you can get a free transcript of your 2005 return from the IRS.
