My neighborhood just started taking down trees and building in a wetlands without telling anyone. They started early in the morning. The town hasn't responded to any calls. Some of my friends live next to that wetlands and wasn't notified. It also was a big place for our animals to live, and they have gotten rid of all the trees. They are killing off so many animals! This can cause flooding on the streets to. They didn't let anyone have a hearing. They also are doing this in the way early morning so I can't sleep. I am just a kid though, so I don't know if I can do anything.

Sorry if this is in the wrong category, I wasn't sure if this should be put in environment or politics.

What state do you live in? Try looking into answers at the state level, because your local government is obviously out of wack.

I think the best thing you can do is try to get as many as your friends together to work on this project and go for it! Try to get a couple adults to help you guys out too; they might know more about the political side of things. I'd also try to find some local environmental organizations to help with your cause. Near any colleges? Environmentalism is big these days, and the more people you can get involved to help you, the better.

Good luck!!!

if your town isnt responding to calls you should plan a protest. Get all the people you know to protest in front of the office of whoevers in charge of it or if they are still cutting down the wetlands in front of the bulldozers or whatever. This way someone has to pay attention to you

Contact your local DNR immediately. Most wet lands are protected and so you should verify that they are not messing with protected wet lands. If they are then they are in very big trouble! We owned wetlands and weren't allowed to disturb them at all! No construction or removal of life were allowed. You can remain anonymous with the DNR as you inquire. Please follow through with this, it is so important.

Call the newspaper. If you have a TV station in town, call them. Get some immediate media attention.

Most states have an environmental department. Try contacting them. I'm not sure which state you live in. You could also try contacting the Environmental Protection Agency. Here's their website: http://www.epa.gov/

epa.gov, enn.com or enn.org, ecologyfund.com, just try all the agencies you can. multiple times. the more u bug them, the more probable they'll do something about it.
and try talking to whoever is cutting down the trees. figure out why. and how u can stop them (reason, not force, please)
