Alpha-bits. Not the new recipe that dissolves when you pour your milk on it, but the original recipe that they had for however many decades that had a hard coating (probably of sugar which was why they thought they had to change the recipe and keep moms happy) that stayed crisp and crunchy to the very end.
The recipe that made you want to dig your hand into the box for handful after handful of delicious crunch and munch that you helped go down with half a glass of milk, then made you lick the sweet taste from the palm of your hand.
What the heck is wrong with the Post company anyway? I bought 1 box of their so called new and improved recipe and threw it away after only 1 bowl. You would think they would have learned from the New Coke debacle of a few years ago.
So anyway, thank you to all of you concerned moms out their who decided that all cereals needed to be changed.
Okay, I'm done with my rant, but I do miss the original Alpha-bits. It's really terrible not having a favorite cereal anymore.

Kellogg's, General Mills or Post -- It really doesn't matter as long as they aren't loaded with sugar like the kind kids like. I especially enjoy the ones that have freeze-dried fruit in them, such as "Berry Burst Cherrios", "Fruit Harvest" and Honey Bunches of Oats with either peaches or strawberries. There is also a generic store brand called "Strawberry Awake", and last but not least, "Special K with red berries".
There was a time when I could purchase individual packages of this freeze-dried fruit at Walmart, but they quit carrying it. It was called, "Fruit Additions", and came in strawberry, raspberry, apple, date and nuts, and blueberry. You could mix these in dry or cooked cereal, and it was very good.
