We always hear about Cain and Able. Does anyone know about this third brother Seth? Did the Redeemer come through Seth's lineage?

THE LINE OF GODLY MEN
THE LINE OF SETH
Genesis 4:25-26
When Seth was born, Eve understood that he would replace Abel. Abel was a man who loved and obeyed God and with his death the ungodly line of Cain only existed. Now Seth was born and he would be a man who loved God. Seth had a son also named Enos, and the Bible says that then men again began to call upon the name of God.

The acts of sin at times makes it appear the work of God is not being done. At times there seems to be no one who loves God and seeks to worship and follow Him. Yet, God will not leave himself without a witness. It is well to understand also that for a brief time it seemed the promise of God to Eve was not to be. Her seed was promiced to bruise the head of the serpent, and by that undo the wrong of bringing sin into the world. Therefore when Seth was born she knew God's plan and promise was to be fulfilled in the line of Seth. Abraham, was a descendent of Seth, and from him came the nation of Israel and ultimately the Lord Jesus Christ. The earth was still under the curse of sin, yet God's plan to provide a Savior was proceeding.

Luke 3:38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was “the son of God”.

Gen 5:1-3 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:

Do you see that in the biography of Adam, neither Cain not Able are mentioned, ONLY SETH.

The “sons of God”, the line of Seth.
Gen 4:25-26 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: “then began men to call upon the name of the LORD”.

Yes, Noah came from Seth. Yes incest happened in the time of Noah, but cousins are different at least a little. Desperate times, desperate measures. Remember Noah took his family too, which included wife, sons (maybe daughters, I'll have to re-check) and daughters-in-law. As for incest in the line directly from Adam, no. Adam and Eve lived in the Garden and were first. But that doesn't mean that God didn't create more. (Remember 800 yrs old, not 800 yrs out of the Garden.) When Cain was driven insane there were already villages and such. They are mentioned in the Bible. No matter how they tried Adam and Eve could not have been that big of bunnies. There were other children yes, but only Seth is metioned, because after the death of Able and the disowning of Cable, he was the eldest son. Such was the way back then. Even science has supported the belief that we are all connected to Adam and Eve, because they have stated that we all have at least a few similar bits in our DNA, the whole human G-nome thing too. (Sorry, probably didn't spell that right.)

What we do know is that the Bible mentions Seth being in the image of Adam. And yes, Jesus came through Seth's lineage.

"And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth."
- Genesis 5:3

As for the lineage, one simply has to read Genesis 5 to see that Noah and his three sons were the descendants of Seth. Then, to see that Jesus came from the lineage of Shem, one of Noah's sons, just go to Genesis 10:10 and read till verse 26.

It is then revealed that Terah was Shem's descendant...and that one of Terah's sons was Abraham.

Abraham begat Isaac. Isaac begat Jacob. Jacob begat Judah and his brothers, as found in Genesis and stated in Matthew 1:2.

Then read Matthew 1:1-16, as well as Luke 3:23-33. Those two are Jesus' genealogies.

Oh, and don't worry about the supposed discrepancies. There are good explanations on wikipedia.org - just go to the site and type in the search box, "Genealogy of Jesus".

Well, I hope this helped.

Seth looked just like Adam.

Actually Abraham is the top of the lineage of Mary of Israel. And Abraham goes back to Adam somehow also.

But Noah is from Seth Lineage in Genesis5. Abraham is of Noah's oldest son Shem.

Yes, Jesus is decended from Seth. Adam and Eve had many children but only Cain, Abel and Seth are named in the Bible.

Of course the Redeemer came through Seth, because Noah, his wife, his three sons, and their wives who survived the flood, all came from Seth.

Doesn't it bother you to think how Cain, Abel and Seth had to engage in fornication with their sisters in a most incestuous manner?

Or that Noah and his small band had to run through that cycle of fornication and incest again later to repopulate the earth?

You think a redeemer would want to have a part in that gene pool?

Yes.

Genesis 6:2  That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

The Son's of GOD were the faithful sons of Seth. The daughter's of men were the children of Cain.

GOD bless
