This is a serious question, so please serious answers. I took my cat to the vet and he said she is in awesome condition, and her coat is super shiny, so she is in no way abused, but, she really stinks, way way more than any pet I have had in the past. We give her wet food sometimes and my uncle said that was what caused it, but why wouldn't the vet tell us that?? Anyone know, please let me know asap, I'd like to nix the stink.

Other helpful information is that the cat does get both dry and wet food, wet food is given once a week. The food used is extremely high quality top grad food picked from the list of top 10 dry cat foods mixed with likewise for wet cat food. It is also a kitten, and only 5 months old, if that helps.

Ah, kitten stomach. That's what my vet called it.
I don't know how accurate that is, but it seems to me that the food you're feeding just doesn't agree with him.
Even good quality foods can cause digestive upsets. You don't say what you're feeding so I can't say much more than that, but it sounds as if a change is in order.
If I were you, I'd increase the wet food and decrease the dry. Dry food - even the better ones - are still full of things that cats don't need and that many react badly to.
Canned food wouldn't cause that problem per se - both my girls eat canned food ONLY and their stool is both firm and not overly hideous in smell.
Make the change slowly to avoid further digestive upsets.
And you don't need to feed it "kitten" food - if you choose a good quality food, simply feed according to the recommended amounts and he or she will be fine.

The farts come from the digestion of the cat not being able to cope with the sugars. Milk will do this to some cats, and so will fish based wet foods. I've never seen a farting cat do it because of dry food, so the wet food or any 'treats' you're giving are likely the culprit.
Don't give milk. Look at the ingredients on the canned food, especially the first 4 ingredients. Switch to a different wet food, one that doesn't have fish or seafood as a main ingredient.

There are a couple reasons for the poops/farts
which clear rooms.
1) Even though any cat fecal test is negative
there can still be worms. Treat the cat with Revolution,
followed by two separate doses of Drontal.
Neither med gets all the worms. Use both & you'll
get all the worms.
2) Lactose Intolerant ( dairy products includes cheese )
Many cat foods include cheese or cheese by products.
3) allergizes to many by products in cat food.
To solve this digestive (gut) problem use only
human grade cat food.

It sounds like she is having some sort of digestion problem with her food. Check the contents of the canned food you are giving her and try a different brand. She may have a mild allergy to something in the food. Lots of cat foods include things like eggs, crude fiber, corn, vegetables, etc., that can be difficult for cats to digest. Just like people, all cats are different and there may be some foods that just don't agree with her tummy. That doesn't mean she isn't healthy (eating beans may make a person gassy and stinky without making them particularly sick) but you should be able to solve the problem by experimenting with her diet and being very careful about what you feed her and watching the ingredients closely.
There are also cat treats and supplements available at some pet stores than can help cats to have better breath and these may help with the odors of her other digestive processes as well. There's cat candy that is supposed to help cure bad cat breath and items with charcoal to neutralize odors and the chlorophyll in fresh catnip or cat grass she can chew on may also help.

Eliminate the wet food and see if she starts to smell better. That will tell you if it's the wet stuff. If it isn't, it may be that her dry food doesn't agree with her. My 7 month old kitten smells fine until she gets into something she shouldn't, like cereal milk and then her poops and farts could topple a third world country. If it's the dry food, switch her to a different type, maybe one that is for cats with sensitive digestive systems. If she's getting herself treats, like mine does, abstinence is the key, but good luck. Mine's an expert at getting what she shouldn't.

Did your vet test her poop for worms or bacteria? Certain types of bacteria can cause bad gas or foul smelling poop. If she doesn't have that problem, she may have irritable bowl syndrome (IBD). Just like some people get gas (or worse) from eating greasy or spicy foods, some cats are sensitive to certain foods. You can try cat foods made for sensitive stomachs and see if that helps, or your vet may want to put her on a special diet.
In the meantime, if you can tell that some foods make her stink more than others, avoid those foods.

I am having the same problem with my kitten. Her farts and bowel movements are so bad that I want to throw up. I seriously considered getting rid of her because of it. But I have had cats in the past and so this is something that can be resolved.
I am feeding her the following foods;
Wet: Friskies
Dry: The Goodlife Recipe.
I really think it is the dry food so I am going to switch it today because if I don't I am liable to pass out from the toxic cloud comming from her butt.

My cat was like that and it would happen if he ate too much canned food.
He gets dry food only and that has eliminated the problem. Dry food is better for a pet anyway as canned food usually contains more protein than dry food.

We give our cat dry food and when we started giving her wet food, and still do, she had the worst smelling poops. My husband thinks it is the wet food...I have no idea.

Feed her the best food you can afford - Nutro is one of the best. Try feeding dry as well as wet - not just one or the other.
