Having spoken to a representative at the cc company on several occasions, the late fee has been reversed and the account taken out of collections. However, the account balance is still wrong and doesn't reflect the August payment. The answer I receive is that they are investigating where the money went. First of all, if my payment was mistakenly applied to another customer's account, how exactly is that my problem? I made a payment, proven via a copy of my cancelled check yet they're investigating where the money went. When I heard this, things boiled over. I could care less WHERE the money went because all I know is where it DIDN'T go (toward my account) and where it isn't as of now (already withdrawn from my checking account). My answer to their having to investigate was, "I don't understand what there is to investigate. You have a copy of my cancelled check which proves I made the payment now just apply it! THEN figure out where it went." Can't wait to rid myself of this lousy card

Well they need to investigate a little faster. With a copy of your cancelled check, they should be able to narrow down the processing date and just go thru everything posted that day till they find your check. I imagine that would take some time. But it is their error.

I'd guess they have a lot of "investigations" going on. Pay the card off. I sure hope you don't have much of a balance.

You don't understand accounting....If they were to "just apply it then figure out where it went" they would be creating money which can only be done by the Federal Reserve. It will be figured out and you will be credited appropriately. This problem did not just start if it was in collections...you must be 30 days late before it goes to collections. All credit is "lousy" when you don't pay your bills on time.

FOR REAL!!! This is ridiculous. I pay my credit card from Wachovia and I save all my receipts electronically. I do hope that this is resolved better for others. Get rid of this company- this is too much!
