Since I came on this forum I have been amazed at some of the things that some christians actually state and believe. I have realised how dangerous some of their ideas are, and this has strengthened my resolve to be more open about being an atheist.

I have also seen how peaceful the pagans are compared to the rest of us.

Atheists seem to put the pithiest comments on here, but can come over as 'fundie' as the christians sometimes!

Muslims try to justify their faith and want to put the record straight about terrorists.

No change on homosexuality - I am neither for it or against it, just as I am with heterosexuality.

Abortion - I am pro-choice with a bit of anti-choice in there as well. I don't believe it is right for a woman to use abortion as a form of birth control.

Religion in general - should be banned!!!!!

An atheist

Well... up until about 5 years ago, I was pretty sure that Jesus actually existed... but just as an ordinary human being. Since then, looking into modern historicel research, I have become totally convinced that the Gospels... and Jesus... are a complete fiction... and that christianity is nothing more than a massive fraud... a criminal business enterprise... and a huge threat to the future of civilization and humanity... a MUCH greater threat than Islam.

"There is not a single contemporary historical mention of Jesus, not by Romans or by Jews, not by believers or by unbelievers, not during his entire lifetime. This does not disprove his existence, but it certainly casts great doubt on the historicity of a man who was supposedly widely known to have made a great impact on the world. Someone should have noticed." ~ Dan Barker

"The Gospel story, with its figure of Jesus of Nazareth, cannot be found before the Gospels. In Christian writings earlier than Mark, including almost all of the New Testament epistles, as well as in many writings from the second century, the object of Christian faith is never spoken of as a human man who had recently lived, taught, performed miracles, suffered and died at the hands of human authorities, or rose from a tomb outside Jerusalem. There is no sign in the epistles of Mary or Joseph, Judas or John the Baptist, no birth story, teaching or appointment of apostles by Jesus, no mention of holy places or sites of Jesus’ career, not even the hill of Calvary or the empty tomb. This silence is so pervasive and so perplexing that attempted explanations for it have proven inadequate." ~ Earl Doherty, The Jesus Puzzle

I don't go to church, but I am a follower of Christ as Salvation does not happen in groups! It is an individual reward that comes from our Heavenly Father by acquiring accurate knowledge of Truth from his word, the Bible, by applying this Truth to our daily life, and by helping spread the good news of His Kingdom.
**Based on this forum it just strengthens my relationship with God, because all that I've seen here is exactly what I expected...it is to be expected. We are all imperfect, and so is this world. So this forum is exactly what it is suppose to be.
I expected hatred, confusion, persecution, love, mockery etc...
and it is all here. With all the good and the bad and the in between, I actually like it, because even with the people that don't share my beliefs and faith, I'm actually learning through them as well what to expect in the world out there, so I'm better prepared to face it all.

I find myself becoming more and more disenchanted with organized religion the older I get. There are too many stipulations and "strings" with organized religion. If you do this you're a good Catholic, if you don't do this, you're a bad Muslim, etc. I wish people would just keep their faith to themselves and live their lives according to the principles and beliefs that can make the world a better place. There are way too many hypocracies within religion. You have to believe in Allah to achieve salvation (Muslim) and you have to believe in Jesus to achieve salvation (Christian). Well they all can't be right so someone must be going to hell, right? So a final question for all those pro-life, anti-gay folks out there -- what do you do about a gay embryo??? Haha!

I began as a Christian. My views have changed the more I have educated myself. Now, having studied the origins of Christianity, I firmly believe they are works of fiction. So much was written (or directed to be written) by Roman emperors and popes that I am amazed it has withstood time.

I also firmly believe that as people grow smarter and more inquisitive, religions will become the refuge of the ignorant and weak minded. It is already happening but the pace is slow.

After seeing the stupidity on this forum I really don't want the people having children, so I'm pro mandatory abortion if you have an IQ less than of a kitchen sponge.

I don't think that my views have changed as much as they have broadened.
I seem to be thinking 'around' subjects more.
I seem to be more willing to look at another side of an issue.
For the most part I think my views have been strengthened ----but ask again in another month --- I haven't been everywhere on here yet .
I am willing to grow and to change .

I was stunned to discover that there are fundies who believe the earth is only 6000 years old...

That some people will actually (seriously) tell others who believe differently that they will go to hell...

That "witch hunts" still go on...

The cruelty of the abrahamic religions has dumbfounded me...
