i hear about ppl sending them money weekly.
i would say it's bcse americans are greedy. easy dollar is welcomed as apposed to working for it.
they don't think well hey i didn't take part in this contest or lottery and i don't know anyone from nigeria why would they want to launder money thru me?
they don't think about it fully before they give their info out.
same for ppl who do phone scams- verify your bank info for our promotion or for blah blah reason.
alot of the ppl that contact me are elderly people who probly think that the winning is legit. or that they are really helping some millionaire window with 15 kids in nigeria.
i posted things to sell on craigslist and i got hit up by several ppl from "other" countries who wanted to send me a bank check, for a few thousand more than the cost, to pay for the item and i was to give them the cash difference, oh yeah like i will fall for that one

They take advantage of greedy people who think they will make an easy buck.
They also play the numbers by sending their scams out to hundreds of people. If one person in a thousand takes the bait then the scammer made his money.

Weak idiots who think there's ways to get something for nothing - desperate, wishful thinking. The scammers are not nearly as stupid as their prey. The scammers are just opportunists who succeed by repetition.
