if it doesn't hurt it might be a mark so try to wash it off but it also might be a scab

You have a third-degree burn, luckily of a small size.

A first-degree burn is usually just redness and a little pain.
A second-degree burn has superficial blistering (blisters filled with clear fluid).
A third-degree burn is often painless because the nerve endings have been destroyed in the area.

You have charring of the skin and the black thing is a scab, also called an eschar (a black wound). You might also notice some purple fluid (do not panic).

You could use an antibiotic cream and protect it with bandages to allow the eschar to slough off naturally but usually, third-degree burns require medical attention, especially if you do not want scarring.

I can sympathize: I've taken my share of burns while cooking and baking.

Run cool water over it to stop it from burning, then slather a generous coat of aloe gel or perhaps neosporin on it. It should heal relatively quickly, and without scarring.

Put an icy cold washcloth on it to draw the heat out, and hopefully it won't blister. If it does blister, let it be....the blister is protecting raw skin underneath. Don't worry about the ugly.
