me2 - the aging argument only works if the new workers are of the kind who will put in as much as they take out in social security and benefits, and they aren't, currently.

Dog Tricks - you and I could agree on a law, I am confident. Forcing it through congress against big business would be interesting, but I'd surely be willing to try.

DT - edit yourself. I will now that I am back from vacation. Give me a few days though. I'm trying to think of something we'd agree to on the school front, other than impact fees by employers of new workers, which I don't think you'd have a problem with (but I forsee many having a problem with).

slew I think the term you want is 'pyramid game' and what happens when THEY retire? Look at my other question about the CIS report. Immigration is NOT changing the age demographic.

Jobs going to foreign workers and illegal aliens combined have ended the American Dream for many US Citizens who have lost everything and are no longer a part of the statistics because they have been out of work for too long.
As to the baby boomers and Social Security being a retirement fund, the government has been taking about a third of our income to provide retirement funds and pay for benefits like Medicare and Medicaid.
Now that illegals have abused our benefits to pay for themselves and the war has been sucking our economy dry, our Social Security benefits are being tapped into. This is totally wrong. It is not their money to tap into. Who is going to pay it back?
The baby boomers will not be able to retire like those before them because the government has stolen their retirement funds. What about those who have already lost their job to illegals and foreigners?

No I haven't. AS in Regards to the aging population, the main problem is Social Security was not designed properly. It was built as an entitlement program for those who didn't know that we can live this long. The Babyboomers knew that they would live pass 70, but decided to make social security a retirement program and refuse to prepare properly. They wanted to hold on to a broken system. We really don't need to bring in more workers. Economist know our pay has gone down because of excess workers. It's mainly because the females has entered our workforce, but immigrants has to be part of that equation too. If we make more money, we can actually pay more taxes, and are far more capable for saving for our retirement. We need to fix Social security to the position it was meant for, not to bring in more immigrants to put a bandaid on it. Of course if immigrants come in with a lower salary than Americans, we can make matters worse. If they stay, they would start taking from our safety net, and we have to bring in more immigrants to pay for them. Besides, our population is not shrinking. its been hovering at 2.1 child per family for a long time. Europe and Japan is in big trouble, not the US. Besides with (gasp) world globilization, would we have the jobs to offer these immigrants. People here seem to over simplify the situation. Bringing more immigrants may temporarily solve the Social security problem, and the key is may, but there are other factors to consider. Soemtimes we need to take a small hit on our economy to make sure a big one doesn't happen. We have to look at the far off future rather than look at just the immediate future. I feel our country can't keep growing, and the suggestion to fix our social security is just that. It feels to me like digging deeper to get out of a hole.

Finally a voice of reason for our side. It's time to address the issue of immigration so that it meets our needs as a country,
it is true that the American people are aging, but we need immigrates that are educated , with capital, and the ability to speak our common language, English. I will say it again, our immigration policy should be based on our needs and wants, and not the needs and wants of the illegals, no matter how hard working and well intended. If we need low skilled workers we can set up a program to deal with those needs.

Haven't seen it yet. What kills me is I'm sick of hearing how we NEED illegals to care for our aging population. Please......h will freeze over before I would ever have an illegal touch me or trust them caring for me or anyone else I care about. Their little radical groups and obvious hatred for old white folks that they intend to wipe off the face of the earth is one major heads-up that I would never risk. Like I'm gonna want someone babbling a foreign language over me if I'm sick and need care. There's a good 30 years left or so before we're all dead so this isn't necessary and using the elderly as an excuse is insane. Oh ya.....here's my debit card wanna clean me out now or later? Can't wait to see what more damage is done to innocent people with this plan.

This situation isn't possibly amnesty. this is how heavily you punish somebody for skipping the place of work work. There are quite 2 ends of the spectrum. One says that not registering is like driving with out motor vehicle insurance. The penalty, assuming you have completed not the rest unlawful, could desire to be paying a great, paying your decrease back taxes, and then filling out the right place of work work to become a documented alien. the different end of the spectrum says that not registering could desire to be a legal, like stealing a motor vehicle, and grounds for everlasting and on the spot deportation. not in basic terms that, everyone who helped the undocumented alien should additionally be to blame of a legal. individually, I choose the 1st strategies-set. this is less complicated, solves the documentation problems, enable's human beings shop their jobs, and components sales in basic terms like another taxpayer. And this is not available to deport 12 million human beings. we've not got the components, manpower, or the flexibility to maintain them out in the event that they prefer to objective and are available decrease back. yet commencing from a rational place now, allowing people who've already been right here a number of years to stay assuming they have completed not the rest incorrect (see determination one), is attainable. which ability deporting in basic terms the contemporary ones and people who've a criminal checklist (different than failing to sign in). plenty greater potential.

Have not seen it, but it sounds like a great idea since illegals steal so many jobs.
The unemployment rate only counts NEW applicants for that period. The existing unemployed are NOT counted.

Why of all days would you allow Mexican trucks to begin entering the US on Labor Day? Labor Day is about those who work and BUILD up America, not those who work, then leave to spend their money elsewhere.
