When answering this question, try to make it as secular as possible and do not say "because I believe so" or "because I said so" or anything like that. And please do not say because God created us so we must be precious.

It's "preciousness" is totally subjective. It is no more and no less "precious" than every given person *perceives* it to be... to himself, and to others.

In the broad scope of things human life is precious to the ones that love them. I certainly believe that my family and friends are precious to me and without them I wouldn't be complete. I interact with them daily and love them because they are my life.

All the ones who I don't really know but build my society help to support what is all of our lives. We have built this massive, wonderous civilization and without each other life as we know it wouldn't exist. Life is indeed precious.

Looked at individually, however, people die all the time. The world continues spinning and eventually they are forgotten in the sands of time. How many people do we remember from over 50,000 years ago?

Everything that happens now will eventually be forgotten, people and all. We will never leave a lasting impression, one that will be remembered forever. However to that generation, to those around us, we are all precious. Tomorrow is an idea and yesterday a memory. All we have is now, after all.

If you were to look at it as if you were from the movie Troy it kinda gives a perspective. Achilles (Brad Pitt) said, "Life is so precious, because we look at everything with such a pleasant outlook. This is, because when we die we realize that when we move on we will never be here again. It is for that reason that the gods envy us." I love that movie and know that its this quote that makes everything so realistic for me.

Um, I don't believe human life is that precious. We are animals like everything else in this planet. Doesn't mean I don't feel pain at another passing or anything. Just death is part of life. Some die young some die old. We all die.

Human life should be even more precious when taking religion out of it. If this life is all there is then to end it prematurely is the greatest crime imaginable.

Human life is not precious.

Humans are numerous (numbering in the 6 billion). They are easily replaceable.

They are also highly destructive, constantly consuming, and generally making a mess of everything.
