I am 36 years old and have always had problems with my skin.

Whenever I get any spots, they always leave a scar or a hole. Also, I constantly have "White spots". I don't know what causes them or how to get rid of them. They are not like normal spots that go away - they never go but they do seem to be increasing. I know that at 36, my skin will never be perfect, but this has been going on for years (probably since my teens).

Any ideas of things that I can do or products that I can use to help??

Hi, there. There is no way to make a diagnosis via the Web, but your skin may be trying to tell you a few things. The spots may be your body's way of getting rid of toxins, or may be the natural result of over-active sebaceous glands (the glands that produce oil in the skin). The white spots may be white heads, which means the spots contain pus that your body is trying to get rid of.

Here's what I recommend: Use a natural soap containing with Tea Tree Oil. (Healthfood stores carry several. Chose one that uses all vegetable oils but that is NOT glycerin based.) Wash your face 2-3 x/day with the Tea Tree Oil soap. Eucalyptus and Rosemary essential oils are also excellent for skin conditions such as yours. Look for products containing any of the above 3 essential oils plus the herbs comfrey, chamomile or calendula. All are very healing and soothing to the skin.

On a daily basis, open your pores by taking a steamy shower or by laying a very warm washcloth over your face. Then wash with the natural soap. To further cleanse and purify your skin and to tighten up the pores, pat Witch Hazel extract over your face after washing it. Cleanse and tone your face 3 times per day if you can.

Drink as much water as you can, as it will help your body "flush" out the impurities that are marking your skin. Avoid processed white sugar (or try to), as it harms your body's ability to fight toxins that can cause acne. Eat many brightly colored fruits and veggies, and avoid hydrogenated fats at all costs. If you can, eliminate dairy products from your diet for two weeks. You may see a surprising difference. If not, slowly re-introduce them into your diet and see if any change occurs.

On a weekly basis, whip up a blend of 1/2-1 c. natural yogurt (without sugars or flavorings) with 1/2 c. avocado. (Substitute papaya, applesauce (w/out sugar), or mashed banana for the avocado if desired). Blend this mixture and then spread over your face and allow to dry. When dry, gently blot off with warm water. This mask with gently cleanse and nourish your skin and will also provide the skin with natural Alpha-hydroxy acids that will help clarify your. Sorry to have rambled. I wish you the very best of luck!

I'm not an expert but I have learnt one thing (I'm 38).

I can only use Nivea on my skin. I have tried everything else, including all the expensive stuff and always ended up regrettting it.

So, find a product that suits your skin, a good cleanser or soap and wash it everyday. Don't forget to apply a good cream afterwards.

Ps I'm straight!

Don't over scrub/wash. Never use scrubs they make spots worse.

Try dry oats, add a little water and make into paste. You only need a small amount. Paste it on to your face and leave for how long you feel you can. It can be messy but works.
Or you can try crushing paracetamol and make into paste with a dash of water and apply to affected areas.
Use mild cleasing product. with warm water.
Hope it works for you!
