Im half native and half white. I've always been proud of my familys heratage. But someone at work became nasty toward me when they found out I am half native. I took offence to this.
I was tought that being so judgemental was a sin. I believe this to be true. What do you think?

I agree with you, but I know I can't change all the people in the world.

In the USA, if you document the abuse, and it really is racially motivted, you can go to your company's HR department and have the person admonished. If that fails you can sue for millions, which tends to motivate HR departments to admonish early and often.

"Really is racially motivated" - If you haven't bathed for three days and eat raw garlic to ward off colds, when your co-worker says you smell bad, she is being honest, not racist. If, however, you are normal and she says "All half-blood scum stink", that's racially motivated. Write down the date, time, what was said.

If she found out you were half native on the same day you stole her boyfriend away from her, it is a dicey call.

Chances are she really is a hypocrite and a racist.

Well...In genealogy you have to let go of any racism or whatever you might think like that. Here in our world you'll find relatives who were Doctors and Killers, Lovers and Cheaters, Fathers and Mothers and Abandoned, Jilted and Married, Christians and (maybe witches), white and black and poor and rich and everything else you can imagine.

Natives and Mexicans (hispanics) were not differentiated for quite a while on census records. Also Mexicans were not considered foreign born in many of the early census records. So really, you'd have know normal way of knowing your relatives was Indian without being told verbally.

As for being Christian and a Racist-- I try not to judge anymore either way on these things. I mean I know your friend is an azz, maybe mean and certainly a jerk, but lets just live on and move up, and ignore her if you must. Hopefully she will find in her heart the meaning of Jesus' message one day, and lets pray that will be before judgement day.

But to be honest, may we all are a bit racist, and sadly more so people like you and I who don't think we are.

"Judge not lest ye be judged", a direct quote from the Bible.
I reckon the answer to your question is: We have all sinned. It is like asking how can a person smoke/drink/do drugs [fill in the blank] and claim to be Christian, or Muslim or Jewish or any other major religion.
It is the way people are. Try to not make a deal out of it; perhaps you can tell that person, directly or through another person, that it is hurting your feelings and you really wish they would not do that.
Let's face it: humans are all of mixed ancestry. Me, I have ancestors from several different tribes, plus Innuits and Eskimos (and just about everywhere else on earth). I am proud of all of them!

I've noticed that some so-called Christians seem to be pretty judgemental, especially the more conservative types.
There are so many stupid things in the Bible and conservatives believe every single word to be true. Read the Old Testament for some of the grossest thin gs God supposedly did or condoned- killing thousands of babies, stoning women,
enslaving people,
women are unclean while having their periods and untouchable and on and on and on with ridiculous things.

For me, I kind of divide Protestant Christians into 2 groups, altho really many more. The normal liberal Christian who takes the good things in the Bible and feels inspiration from the life of Jesus and don't take the Bible literally word by word.
Then the ultra conservatives/evangelacals who believe every word is the Word of God, without exception.

Anyway, if you think that you are 100% right by believing 100% of the Bible that can give you some very twisted and arragant views about the world, yourself, other people.

And even liberal Christians can still believe stupid things. We
all can for that matter. None of us are perfect.

I think you just have to accept that you will run into people who say,do. believe stupid things during your life. If it feels appropriate, safe and something you want to do, you could talk to them about it. You may change the way they think. or not.

Mainly don't let your own self-esteem be twisted by what others think of you. Just consider the source.

If you are native then you need to be from a particular country such as New Zealand then you would be part Maori and part pakeha which is the white race. Race is just a colour and if any person judges you by that colour then they are colour blind and not worth responding to. Leave them to their own devices and before long they will get what they deserve which is the natural law. He who has not sinned let him caste the first stone, I do not think it is for anyone else to judge.

To claim to be Christian, does not make one Christian Jesus gave his life for every person regardless of race or nationality. I do not believe there is one pedigreed human being living in this generation. There are very few "Kunta Kinte's" living in America that can provide a straight line back to Africa, and hardly any European that is of one single bloodline. And as far as relationships go the very one that belittled you, could have some of your native land blood coursing through their veins.

Probably if she traced her own family, she would be surprised at what she might find.

Being Native American or American Indian has always been looked on differently according to what part of the country you come from. Most today are quite proud of it and are looking for their Native American roots.

Sometimes people need to be laughed at and made to look foolish.

Simply put THEY CANT. Being a christian means immitating christ. When Jesus came to a Samaritan woman at a well he lovingly and un-biasely preached to her. Jews at the time hated Samaritans and wouldn't even speak to them normally. Also she was a woman and men typically wouldn't have sparked up a conversation with women in that culture and time. JOHN 4:7-30

Screw them.

It is my personal experience that most of the people who are the loudest to claim to be Christian also judge others the most, and are the most intolerant of those they deem as being beneath them. At work I see this too. All the chatty women who gossip the most and talk about others behind their backs are the ones who do the most preaching about God and the Church and right and wrong. I say it's the pot calling the kettle black.

I am not a religious person. I do not follow specific religion. I am a spiritual person and I follow my heart to God.
