A person can claim to be pretty much anything they want to claim. But if I call myself the King of Arkansas does that mean I get to collect tribute? Nope, so the real question is was that person acting in a Christian manner. The Answer is NO! You see a Christian is not a racist or a bigot. If Christianity allowed Racism there would be no Gentile Christians. Remember Jesus is not Christ (Greek term) first, that is the Greek rendering of the HEBREW word Messiach it means the Anointed One. So if racism was an issue that Christians were allowed to indulge in the Hebrews would have never allowed the Gentiles into the Way of Salvation! Remember the mark of a Disciple was outlined by Jesus, Joh 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. That person was not showing love. But in their defense I am wondering if by pride in your heritage if you mean you try to walk the Native Spiritual Path and the Christian Path at the same time. If you are then you are neither a Christian nor a follower of the "Red Road" you can not follow both religious paths anymore than one can be a Christian Witch, or a Christian Satanist, or any other combination of faiths...

Ok, here is my answer.
First of all, I hope that your situation turns around. Having strife at work can be disastrous.
If the Christian is in fact a Christian he/she is well aware that judging can only be done by the Father. And that He views this as a Sin if Christians do so. However, if a Christian lies, is judgmental or even steals from his neighbor then he also knows that the Lord will forgive him if he asks.
You mentioned you are a Christian as well. Have you ever sinned?
Better yet, are you judging a sinner right now? Therefor by doing so, are you sinning? Are you asking other Christians to Judge for you? In math, that wold be Sinn x an infinate number. Isnt that the same thing or worse?
Confusing isn't it.
Solution is to continue to walk in the ways of the Lord and pay little attention to others as their walk is different than yours. Thank the Lord for the sacrafice of His son and His blessings and ask for His forgiveness of *your own* sins.
Confront your dismay and ask the Christian if they feel the way you think they feel and if there is a way that you can get along. Do not comment on his/her Christianity as that will cause more problems. Be diplomatic.
Oh yeah, don't let this discourage any future questions you have, because the people who answer you here creates fellowship.
But for goodness sake, pray for your answer as well. God isn't going to answer you directly in here.

How do you know they were nasty because you are half Native American? Did they tell you that's why they don't like you? Maybe you said something that offended them - right about the same time they found out that you have Native blood.
Talk to this person. ASK them why they are being nasty. If they say - "Yes - I hate Native Americans and since I found out you are one - I don't like you." then you will know they are racist. But until then - I think you are assuming why they don't like you.
And - just for the record - ANYBODY can claim to be a Christian. But if they do - and they don't live a Christian lifestyle - then they are a hypocrite.

Well, even though im not anymore, i was raised in the church and genuinly beleived, the best i can tell you is, that christians dont have a monopoly on having good hearts. There is alot of rot in the church today and that might explain some of it. Many christians have lost sight of what god says and what their priests and their own narrow minds are saying. Another explanation is that everyone has flaws, just because a person is christian, doesnt mean their flaws flew out the window the minute they accepted jesus. If anyone says that they became completely new overnight they are pullilng your leg.

I have learnt some hard lessons on being judgemental. It is a sin to sit in judgement. It is also judgemental to judge a judgemental person. I used to do it all the time and feel like I was justified but there is only one judge!! All Christians are sinners. Every human is a sinner. That is what God's gift of His Son was for. To cover the sins. I don't believe anyone should judge anyone, everyone has their own things to worry about without trying to find something wrong with someone else. Love and Forgive in Christ.

Being racist & judgmental is a sin and someone who is acting like that needs to stand back and take a good long look at their walk w/ Christ. Just because someone claims to be a Christian doesn't always mean they are a Christian. You will know that they are Christians by their love. There is no love in being racial and judgmental. Stand tall and be proud of who you are and don't give a hoot about what other people think. All that really matters is what Jesus thinks. Continue to be a shining light for Christ.
John 15:9-12
"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you."

This person is IGNORANT!!! If the person had to find out your ethnicity to determine how they should feel about you, then the person is a "fool." If I were you, I would be proud of myself and the fact that the Lord decided to place you on this planet. Pray for this man and those like him. Read Psalm 35 (Plead My Cause) - The Lord will take care of that which is known and that which is unknown. This way you are covered. Remember this, What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. - Psalm 68:19. BEFORE you enter a home or building, quietly say "Peace Be To This House." -Luke 10:5. Those who are within those premises will act peacefully and can't be foolish. Peace, Love and God Bless.

I think you are 100% right. I am a half breed too. Raised by Native thinking people.
I've never had much of a problem with it or because of it.
The worst problems I had were with the Mexicans I worked with. We are the true Indians they say. While history shows no one was crueler to the natives than the Spanish and later Mexican people. Genocide was used to help purify the spanish blood.
I found an answer. I'm three halves, white, red and Jew. As the brother of Jesus I'm Jewish too.
Tell this jerk you are going to visit his church to hear racial doctrine preached and talk with his pastor and tell him it is working in his case.

They are not a true Christian. According to 1 John 4:20, "If anyone makes the statement: “I love God,” and yet is hating his brother, he is a liar. For he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot be loving God, whom he has not seen. "
I hope you will not judge Christianity based on what one person does. Please have compassion on him. Many people claiming to follow Christ show that they are not following him basd on their actions. One of these people biggest problems is that they don't realize that God is impartial (Acts 10:34, 35).
Christ's true followers are those who do the works of the Christ, namely preaching about God's kingdom, loving each other and those who are not Christians, and use Christ's father's name. (Matthew 24:14; 28:19, 20; John 13:35; Psalm 83:18; Acts 15:14)
I am truly sorry for your experience. As an African American, I am not foreign to what you've been through.

Easy. The only requirement needed to be Christian is humanity. You must be human. We are all a work in progress and we are all sinners. Judging people is bad but, judging sin is mandatory. We have a right and a duty to judge-- to call sin sin where we see it. To say or do nothing is like condoning it and we will be held accountable for it just as if we ourselves did the sin. One must try to correct lovingly though and that is the hard part. To keep our own holier than thou pride out of our judgment is the hardest part. It must be done through Jesus and his Sacred Heart.
