I have three HD capable TV's in my house. i was wondering if it is possible to get HD channels on all the tvs from my cable provider without paying an extra 25 a month per box. Or can i just buy boxes myself to avoid paying monthly?

While you can simply put a splitter between your main TV and the cable box, that would mean that all of your sets would have to watch the same channel.

I assume that you already have cable in the other rooms so it may be possible to purchase your own boxes, the question is can you find a legal box ? I am sure that there are others that may work. Check on line and make sure that you get one that is compatible for your cable system.

Do you absolutely need the box? If the TVs have a QAM tuner, you should at least be able to watch the unencrypted channels.

Also, do any of your HDTVs have a CableCard slot. If so, your cable provider may be able to provide you a card. Be persistent, cablecos aren't exactly jumping through hoops on these from what I've read.

There's also the possibility that you might be satisfied with over the air HDTV. It depends on where you live, but in some areas you can get quite a selection. Of course, you'll need an antenna.
