Ok, so we are traveling to visit the UK around Christmas this year (from the US). We are renting a car to get around. One of the days I would like to take the Chunnel and use it to go to France and ultimately visit Normandy Beach. Are there any restrictions to my ability to take a rental car into another country? If so, are there addendums you can purchase that would allow this sort of thing?

Thanks in advance for the info. Oh, btw, we plan to use one of the major rental car companies (Avis, Hertz, Alamo, etc) as opposed to something like Fred's Rentals.

I have had look for you on all of those rental companies websites (Avis, Hertz, Alamo) and could not find anything in regards to taking the car to another country.

My personal opinion would that it would be okay as long as you inform the rental company of your plans, you may need to take out additional insurance on top of the other costs.

I would contact the rental companies directly and inquire about this before you arrive in the UK as each company will haves slightly different policies and requirements.

Edit:

Thank you Philip. No need for the thumbs down however as I did state that in my opinion it would be fine, although there may be additional insurance fees incurred (which there are according the websites).

maximum of them will yet you're many times extra fee-effective to lease in a foreign country as U.ok companies will fee approximately one and a a million/2 instances the conventional fee and you may get your own 5* breakdown conceal etc..........
