You need to call international UK - - - all UK numbers start with a 0, but you lose that when dialing from abroad. The UK Country code is 44. If their number starts 0207 xxxxx, etc that is the local number to call. To connect from the US dial:
0044 207 xxxxxxx
(Note: 207 is an example, just remember to drop the zero if you have one at the beginning of their number)

011 44 then drop the first 0 for the london code.
