Because you can not disprove the Bible, it has existed for thousands of years and never encourages wrong you to do wrong (no murder, stealing, etc.) If you're trying to chose between the two I'd pick the Bible.

Hold on there... It's really "Because the voices in the Bible told me to" and the Bible is always more credible than the voices (in your head)... It's been around longer...
If anyone didn't get the sarcasm, let me spell it out. "Because the Bible tells me to" is unreasonable, irrational and isn't even a real answer (at this point, they are going to say that faith makes them do it, to which I say that's just substituting another abstract in). If you do something in this world, be prepared for when people ask the simple question: "Why?" because God didn't tell us to do anything, he gave us free will to do what we want. He just hopes we do the right thing.
I find plenty of great advice in the Bible myself, never "go and have a TV special and convert people to some weird sect of your religion and ostracize any certain group of people; Muslims, gays, minorities, pick one"
Btw, Darwin's theory means the strong as in within a species, therefore not the sick or weak people, which is a statement of fact. It does NOT mean that the people with guns survive, that's just ignorant.

They don't equate. The Bible is God's word. The Bible wouldn't tell you to do something insane or harmful. Each individual can interpret a statement in a different way, whether it is written or spoken. Therefore, the individual is responsible for his actions, not the Bible or the voices.

Millions of Christians are going to be truly devastated when they realize that the rapture theory they have sat in the pew and fell for does not happen. They are going to walk right into the antichrists web. When he comes they will think he is the true christ. The true Christ comes back to earth AFTER the antichrist. No one still alive on earth becomes a spirit until the true Christ returns. Those who have already passed went directly to the Father who created them. There are not going to be bodies coming out of graves etc. These are the same Christians that probably believe Eve ate an apple.

Sometimes a voice speaks to you from the Word, but it typically doesn't tell you to do anything. A passage that actually speaks is, in my experience, just something to help you grow spiritually, it's not usually an edict or a command.

Why do you respond here on Answers? Is it because the words told you so? For many reasons we respond. Some are dillusional, some are right on track. We must be able to use discernment to know which is which. Then, we must use some system or rule to know how to discern. This is with religion or anything else. Easy enough don't you think?

I'm a Christian.
Christians who say "Because the bible tells me to" frustrate me.
What about what your heart tells you to?
The thing is, if you killed someone.. that IS wrong.
If you stalk someone, that IS wrong.
I think shoving your beliefs down someones throat IS wrong.
Christians should be loving and understanding of EVERYONE'S thoughts, feelings and beliefs.
I use the bible as.. this..
Basic
Instructions
Before
Leaving
Earth.
Love God, love yourself (not pride way.. you know what I mean), and love others. If you can't stand hanging around someone then don't. It doesn't mean you don't love them it just means you don't love being with them.

The Bible one is less insane by popular demand.
P.S. It's 'to' with one 'o', not too. The voices tell me to.

Thanks for asking this question, it's been at least 12 hours since anyone's asked it, way to have an original thought. The field of psychiatric medicine has already spoken on this. I don't like fundies who play scientist and I don't like atheists who play doctor. If you think fundies are wrong for not trusting science, why can't you trust the well-educated and experienced medical professionals on this topic? Just curious, I'm not calling you a hypocrite or anything.

So if Darwin's Origin of Species taught me "The Strong Will Survive," then its okay to go around killing off the weak people? Just like Hitler...... Not very good logic?
