If you're executor of her estate, you can "run ss#", but run it where? for what?
To find her old policy, you need to go to her bank, with the same executor authorization, and the bank will release the old cancelled checks to you. Then you look through them to find out the name of the insurance comopany she was paying for 50 years.
If you're not executor of the estate, no one will give you this information. You're not entitled to it just because it's your mother. Sorry.

Why do you need her SS number? If she has an undepayment on her record, Social Security often sends "blind" letters to her last know address. But this is only done if the amount of the underpayment is $50 or more.
You would not be eligible for the $255.00 lump sum death payment. The only person's eligible would be a surviving married spouse or a minor/disabled child, entitled on her record at the time of death. However, since 2 years have passed since, the claim would be outside the statute of limitation.
If you believe she may be underpaid, but you don't have her claim number, you can visit your local Social Security office. They will ask her name and date of birth. Do you have her death certificate? Often, the ssn is shown here. If there is an underpayment due her, you and your siblings may apply via form SSA-1724. If she is survived by a widower who was still married to her at the time she died, he would be eligible for the underpayment first. If there isn't a surviving spouse, then the children (any child) would be eligible for an equal share.
Hope this helps.

Have you called the insurance company? That would seem like the place to start. If you found anything in her records with a policy number on it, that should make it even better. If the policy was still in effect when she passed away, then there should be some funds available.

Look through her records and bank statements to find name of company. Not sure what you mean by run SS number. The number will be on her death certificate. If you are looking for benefits contact the SS Admin.

Check her bank records. If she was paying money in for 50 years, surely there's a canceled check or something.
