If the problem is not too severe and is confined to your face, i.e. not on your chest or back, then over the counter cleansers. these are peroxide based, are usually first treatment choice.

If you have failed with these the next step really is prescription medication. This takes the form of topical or oral antibiotics from your GP. assuming these work, they may be required for months and occasionally years.

An occasional alternative in women is one of the OC pills that reduce acne. There are 2 of these Dianette, which unfortunately triples DVT risk, and Yasmin.

If this fails and the acne is severe Roaccutane can be used, this is not available from your GP and has to be authorised in secondary care by a dermatologist, due to its potential side effects.

I've been using Clean & Clear Cleanser and PERSA Gel both with Benzoyl Peroxide in it for about a week and within 3 days the bumps looked 100 times better.

I hate to go here - but I have to in order to help. If you are a black female, the best ointment/cream is shea and coco butter, or some other bleaching cream (lightens the dark spots).

I would not know what whites do. Acne spots in blacks are usually due to us picking at the bump and making it open up.

Allowing yourself an evaluation with a dermatologist is even better since everyone's skin, tone, quality and care is different.

if theres only the odd one or two invest in some vaseline and dab a little bit over each one and let it soak in. Within two or three days the spots gone :) it works for me anyways.

see your doctor. Creams are ineffective for bad acne. The doctor will prescribe antibiotics such as TETRACYCLINE or MINOCYCLINE. The effects take about 3 months to work.

If your skin doesn't respond very well to that, you can be referred to a dermatologist at the hospital, who can prescribe stronger and more effective treatments such as ROACCUTANE

The best way to do it is to stop eating fast food and fatty/greasy foods, and eat more fruits.. and its better for you in the long run.
Creams and stuff are only a quick fix, but in the long term, they can actually damage your skin.
