Hi. We have a stray on our porch right now. She has worms (we saw them) Is there anyway to get rid of worms without a visit to the vet? I am sure she belongs to someone, she has a flea collar and is not scared of us. Anyway I just don't have the funds for a visit to the vet. Thanks

You need to take the cat to the vet. Dewormers purchased at the pet store are unreliable and are not proven to be effective.
As for the flea collar it is worthless so be sure to cut it off. Flea collars are responsible for accidental hangings so get it off the cat.
Unfortunately the cat has come to your home and needs help. Do the right thing and either bring it to the ASPCA or the vets for appropriate care.

Have the cat checked out by a vet. There are treatments available at the pet store but are not effective and you will be wasting your money. An examination by a vet is well worth what is being charged. The cat may have other problems you would not be able to diagnose on your own. The vet can see if the cat is "chipped" and if so you'll be able to reunite him with his owner.

Cut the flea collor off...they suck and DO NOT work. She probably has fleas and also tapeworm. You need to get rid of fleas first, or there is no point in getting rid of the tapes.

Maybe taking her to a shelter is an option.

whether u get it from a vet or not you have to get deworming meds. and if you want it to work without harming the cat, then get it from your vet, and not at wal-mart. those kinds of medications aren't that expensive, and you could probably get it from a vet without actually taking her in for a check up.
