You need to brown the mince on the top of the stove. Dry fry first and then pour off all the excess fat/water then continue to cook on a low heat until mince is browned but keep stirring. Hope this helps and hope your recipe turn out great.

You would be quicker browning it in a pot on the hob and then carry on with your recipe. You dont really need oil. Just keep stirring it and moving it around with a wooden spoon till it's browned.

I wouldn't recommend this at all - to me the only way to brown meat of any kind is in a HOT fry pan.

You can but isn't it easier and quicker to brown it in a hot frying pan?
