Is there??

Yes, there is. It is mostly due to heredity (fast metabolism) or personal or family eating habits. Some people prefer to eat smaller portions and are not very interested in consuming large quantities of food.

You can see an example of this when you look at countries in the world that have very low rates of obesity, like Asia. This is due to people not eating the way others do in other countries. For example, choosing tea over soft drinks, choosing fruit over pastries, choosing noodles over big macs and french fries, etc. It is the small changes in a person's dietary intake that, over time, keep a person slim.

Of course. But right now, 2/3 of the country is overweight or obese.

Some of us resist adding body fat, and get warm or hot unpleasantly if we overeat. We may also get full and can't eat more. For some of us, we have more fun doing other things than eating, so we only stop to eat when hungry, then go have more fun. We eat to live. We don't live to eat.

Also, some people have better taste buds, so food is more irristable to them. My wife is like that. She has great self-control to eat small meals and stay near healthy weight. I have poor taste buds, and don't think about food at all until I am really hungry.

I hate fat. Fat on meat makes me gag. My twin brother loves it.

So there is genetics involved. But its not 100%.

I am slim, but discovered I still can't eat just anything. Low body fat, but very bad heart disease.

Hi,
I eat like a Trojan. I bung barbies / home made / take aways down my neck, and and still only 9st. I go to club dinners with steak & kidney pudding and dear knows what.
I like my beer, but still only 9st.
I am told that I am a bit skinny.
So perhaps it it metabolic rate. I don't do a heck of a lot of exercise, just a bike ride, or water-ski session, so maybe, as you suggest, there are naturally slim folks.

I dont think so. When my mother was 21 she weighed 6 stone and now shes well over 12 stone. From size 8 clothes to now 16.
I guess its just shes getting older and has had 3 children.

Yes there is. Some people are naturally born with a faster metabolism as well as a slim body frame (bones are thinner).

It isn't a good thing actually as I find it hard to get clothes to fit me... maybe I should up sticks to America where all the size zero clothes are??!!
