Why not just get a small dragonfly?
The dragonfly symbolizes change, and how we must each get past our own self images sometimes. They represent how our sense of ourselves changes as we grow older, and mature.
I remember one summer afternoon several years back when there were hundreds of dragonflies swarming in the air along the waterfront where I lived. It was at a particularly difficult time in my life and here I was surrounded by these incredible creatures that were flying in an infinite number of directions -- forwards, backwards, up, down -- twisting, turning and changing as the wind and sunlight demanded.
I'd love to say that it was I who chose the dragonfly to represent my spirit side and the knowledge that I needed to get emotional, mental and physical balance in my life, but the truth is the dragonflies chose me.
It is said that a dragonfly's color changes continuously as a result of how the delicate wings refract and reflect sunlight as they dance about in the breeze. As a result, the dragonfly also represents the power of positive thinking that comes when you change your attitude towards life and people begin to see you the way you wish they would. In other words, you begin to create your own magic.
Leave the quotes for your diary, wall or desk. If you are going to get a tatoo, place a small symbol on your hip as a reminder of the magic that is within you.
Here's one of my favorite prayers by Marianne Williamson. Someone once gave it to me when I was in a very delicate emotional place, like you. I promise it will make you stronger than any tatoo.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Best wishes.

I have the perfect quote for you. It covers the meaning you seek and so much more in life. It is "Tough times don't last, tough people do!" Unfortunately the creator of such a meaningful quote chose to be listed as Annonymous. To arrange it for a tatoo you may consider a format like:
Tough Times
Don't Last
Tough People
Do!
