We are in heaven or hell in every now moment. The experience of hell causes us to seek wisdom, self-knowledge and heaven. This is the spiritual journey toward unity with god/reality/allah and authentic being.

I think the journey of life is just that, a journey. If we live our lives in pursuit of the final end, and base our judgment on whether or not it is going to get us to our end result, instead of "what lesson am I going to learn here" we miss out on the fine details of what is perceived to be the big picture. Since I don't believe in a heaven and hell, as I am a Pagan by choice, it is more important for me to learn the necessary lessons in this life to fill my soul for its next journey when this physical shell it currently inhabits ceases to exist. I've had some great teachers and read some interesting literature because of them. This is why I question EVERYTHING by my own free will, and why I've come to realize so many of us try to live life, instead of giving life the opportunity to live through us. It is so much more of a beautiful and fulfilling experience when you take the good with the bad instead of trying to design your life out with one purpose in mind, and miss the opportunity at all the new experiences. An opportunity missed is a lesson lost.

Well if too focused on heaven or hell and you miss all the miracles and joys of life.
Moderatation is key. (bet you knew I 'd say this)
Gaining wisdom is good - as long as it is shared as you go.

The journey of life is meant to be shared to be fully appreciated.

Who we are on earth will be geatly accounted for in heaven. So life is not about what we receive in eternity, but who we become now in Christ will play a role in God's assigment for each person in eternity.

I think the joy of life is lost when we focus only on the end. We should dance while the music is playing.
