"So why not just give it a rest and let one on another believe what they want to believe "
Our position, exactly. When (fat chance) Xians stop trying to regulate our lives, we will, gladly, live and let live. Until then, no way.
ADDENDA
"I can,t figure out why atheist are even here, this sight is all about God,"
No. it is not. Read the title: "Religion & Spirituality". No god in there. You probably think "god" is in the Constitution, too. No?
"a convicted Christian"

Come on Paul you should know that plenty of sheep I mean people have been proselytized into religion, millions at the point of a sword. And religious people all over the world in many faiths that finally actually look at the overwhelming evidence have a revelation that religion IS just a human bad habit.

You are right. Neither Christians nor Atheists would give in.
But there are others in between who haven't quite made up their minds and they weigh both sides of the argument in order to make up their minds.
And even among the Christians and Atheists, people switch sides. So better to keep the discussing going.

I find a lot of times when religion is brought up that christian ask are you right with god? Do you know where your soul is going? Then they try to persuade me into coming to a service. Once you visit then they ask if you are saved. Saved from what? I personal don't push my beliefs on others but christian are good about pushing their beliefs on you. Can I get an Amen.

My daddy was an atheist. He became a Christian, when I was a baby. It was my grandfather that convinced him. From his experiences and talking with him, I understand what an atheist truly is. I agree with the Christians, to keep it out there, keep on keeping on. The atheist wants proof.
If even the Romans, couldn't shut up the Christians by trying to kill them all off, how could one possibly think that today they could do a better job. Just a passing thought.

Well, to answer your question, I will say that as long as Atheists keep challenging us Christians and asking us to defend our beliefs that the universe was created, we will continue to state why we believe as we do. We are not trying to prove anything to anyone. We know that people's hearts will be hardened and they will only believe what they choose to believe. Still, if we are asked point blank to state why we believe something, we are going to state point blank why we believe it. We can give it a rest when those asking the questions of us will give it a rest.

This is a question and answer forum. As long as people ask questions, and to the extent I have answers, I will continue providing those answers.
Someone has to provide the objective balanced truth to counter faith-based answers for which there is no supporting evidence. My purpose here is to provide that objective truth. It is not to convince anyone to change their beliefs.

I agree with you - the level of serious discourse on these matters here seems to be at the level of "bumper sticker" politicing mixed with a subtle breed of trolling.
In my view, an Atheist talking about religion makes about as much sense as a Chef talking about Nuclear Physics - they require a completely different set of knowledge and skill to master.

A lot people believe so strongly in something that they can't help themselves but to argue their point and try to sway someone else who thinks different on their side. Same as talking politics, sexual orientation, capital punishment, abortion, etc.
There is no end to an argument about these things.
