I'm heard some good and some bad comments about eating raw verses cooked. The science behind eating raw makes sense in regard to enzymes, I just wonder how safe and practical it is.

Raw meat - if handled properly- is delish. I make Steak tar tare for my family often but I wash and grind my own meat so there is less chance of bacterial contamination and I keep the area clean as well as serve it very cold (grind it partly frozen so it doesn't get to room temp too fast). The lemon and horseradish serve to "cook" it to a point and if you follow a recipe exactly you will enjoy it immensely. Also use a good firm bread for the toast points so you don't drop the meat. Good Luck!

My experience is with Sushi, Ceviche, and Steak tar-tar. All very safe and delicious! Cultures around the world have been eating raw for centuries and most are more healthy then our over cooked, nutrient draining forms of cooking. So good for you!
Happy eating.

I agree with a lot of the people here - I have had sushi, ceviche, steak tartare and beef carpaccio and never had any problems. In fact, I have made them all myself with the exception of the tartare. You just want to be sure that what you are using is the freshest available or that you are eating at a reputable restaurant! It's all verrrrryyy yummy!

No thanks. But i have eaten raw vegetables, which are better than cooked vegetables! Like eating a raw carrot is actually more healthier than eating a cooked carrot. But for meat, no i have never tasted a raw meat, though i tried touching it once, but i would never bother to taste a raw meat!

I've had steak tartar, carpaccio, and of course, sushi (which isn't technically meat). However, I'd only order them in good restaurants where I trust the kitchen.

harm full bacteria are on the cut sides off the meat, so if you mince your own beef (tartar), and eat it, you know what you are getting.
But if you trust just any butcher or restaurant, you are literally putting your health or even your life in their hands.
A substantial number of people in France die each year because of misplaced trust in that regard....
