She came home last week from school saying that other kids at school told her she has hairy legs. I can't stand the thought of her being made fun of, but she's only in 2nd grade! I can't bear the thought of putting a razor to her delicate skin already, so if I let her, she will use an electric razor. But is she too young for that?

I just went through this SAME EXACT thing!! My step-daughter is 9, and has extremely thick, dark hair. She asked her daddy if she could start shaving, and he came to me to discuss it. I originally thought she was too young, and he agreed, but he told her she could, anyway. I guess you have to know when to pick your battles! Either way, I told her as long as she's responsible about it and keeps the razor out of reach of her three younger siblings, it was OK. Seven does seem super young, however, and I agree with you as far as letting your daughter use an electric razor for now......

They grow up so fast!!

My sister is seven, and she has hairy legs too, way more than when I was in third grade. I started shaving when I was ten, and then I think I was ready. And, I know that it hurts if your daughter is getting teased. If SHE wants to shave her legs, then you should let her, but show her how first! Like very detailed instructions so she doesn't go cutting herself every other day and miss patches of hair. Show her the first time, and help her the first time, remind her she doesn't have to shave everyday.

Obvious question: does she have hairy legs? Really? Or a few tiny fine blonde hairs? because shaving will make whatever she has thicker and darker.

Kids can be cruel, and they'll always find a way to make fun of someone if they decide to. It may be that they just randomly tried something they thought would upset her, and jumping through their hoop won't solve the problem - and will have your little girl shaving her legs years before she needs to.

Yea that seems a little young. I got made fun of for having hairy arms and my mom got me hair bleach. It doesn't hurt and you only have to do it every month or so. It makes hair a lot less noticeable. I like salley hansen. Its about $7 or $8 at walmart or any other drug store. I hope this helped.

yes, she is a bit too young. if it bothers you too much you should talk to the parents of these kids who are teasing your 7-year old. Or you can try having the hair on her legs bleached instead.

I think 7 is a little young to be shaving her legs yet. I would hold off until she is ready to go into middle school.
