but these same unbelievers will take their family to the church for a free meal or they will bring home clothes for their children from the church.
Or they will seek a favor from the church during a natural disaster.
I cannot make sense out of this.

Don't get me wrong. I also condemn them, too, but I do not ask for a favor from them.
Satan has even taken control of some churches. A true follower of God would never molest or hurt a small child.

I criticize any human being that molests children whether they be religious or not. Also, not every 'unbeliever' as you put it goes to the church for charity when every state has a number of secular programs available like WIC.
I do not know what area you live in but many organizations both secular and religious give aid to anyone in the event of a natural disaster because we all belong to one race and that is the human race and they realize that. Perhaps more human beings need to.

So .... you approve of molesting children? If you were aware of such activity you would consider it okay because its the church doing it?
Why can't you accept people challenging an institution that is supposed to protect people when it has activities that are against its principles. When the Church is cirtisized for these incidents its just people, churched and un-churched, holding the church accountable for its actions.
Why do people go to hurches for help when they hold this belief? - Well, beacuse they see that not all churches and all priests/pastors would molest - it is a very, very clear minority so asking help of the church and being critical of the practices of some dioceses is not unreasobale.
Most people ***** about their government but they still collect welfare and use social services.

Your later clarification is the heart of the issue: "A true follower of God would never molest or hurt a small child."
A position of trust like the ministry brings temptation to a less-than-true follower of God. Thus, when ministers, priests, and rabbis molest children, they betray our trust, defy God, injure their organizations, and make news. Jesus' prescription was a millstone around the neck and a quick trip to Davy Jones's locker.
That molestation by religious teachers makes news is an indicator of its rarity. The rule for news is "man bites dog." Dogs bite men everyday, which is why a dog bite is not news. Only events out of the ordinary make news. In the case of molestation, most of it is perpetrated by family members, and teachers are way ahead of any sort of ministers in the crime statistics.
Unbelievers who seize on molestation to bash the church are misinformed about the relative instance of molestation, and they use such rare events as an excuse to scourge Christianity. Interestingly, they ignore a real danger to children in the disproportionate molestation rate among homosexuals, about 40 times the rate of heterosexual molestation.

They see the actions of a few and blame the whole church for the actions of a few. And yes some of these same people will get what they can from the church. Hopefully they will see that the church is not to be judged on the actions of a few. Unfortunately those few can really do some bad stuff

I agree that people say one thing and do another. It's true that people criticize but turn around and accept part of what they criticize. Anyone who criticizes pedophiles is right to do so but It's not right to blame the church itself for some of it's members evil deeds. Unfortunately not every church or every Christian follows Jesus' teachings. Churches should help people regardless of their beliefs because of Jesus' teachings to help the poor and provide to those in need.

I criticize the Catholic church for covering up the abuse and not punishing the perpetrators in an acceptable manner.
Since when do I take anything from any church? You're generalizing. I do nothing of the sort.

I've never sought a favour from a church, or taken a free meal or clothes. But even if I had, that wouldn't be inconsistent with criticising the church. It's not like taking things from them is somehow supporting them.

So you're saying it's okay for members of the church to molest small children as long as they provide charity?
