People forget the very basic principles of their religion and refuse to accept that they are not always right. We live in a hard time where evil tends to prevail and people forget about God. It's extremely sad.

It's all very noble to talk about love, tolerance etc. Sure these have their own place.
Would you be able to love someone who, let's say, deliberately killed someone you loved? Now you are on a shaky ground, I guess. In this world there is good and evil. If you love good you just cannot turn a blind eye to evil and pretend it does not exist just as a good government cannot turn a blind eye towards those who break its laws.
Being good does not mean accepting evil. It also entails hating evil and speaking out against it.

I don't hate anyone. I just try to answer questions. Part of the problem is this is a religion and spirituality site but Atheists who don't have a religion or spirituality come here when they should be in another section.

Because people do not know how to respond in love anymore. Responding in love does not mean that you have to agree with the person, but it does mean that you show respect for them and not demean them. And you express your views in a respectful manner and leave it at that. People will respond to even those people that do not agree with them in a nice way, if we all learn how to relate to each other with love. And then maybe a lot more would be accomplished.

Its amazing to me to see that you answered your very own question. Do you get 10 points for that one? You fixed the blame on religion. Was that your agenda, to agitate the situation with pointing the finger to religion. Your question would have been better if you had left religion out of it and let those reading these question answer for you.
So the question is, can someone please highlight why others find hatered within religion. What words are key indicators that prove that religion is hateful and mean spirited.

I worked for the catholic church for a few years until they forced me out for not conforming to their beliefs, even though I was raised catholic and went to catholic school for nine years. The most arrogant, spiteful, self-centered people I have ever seen, cloaked in their religious righteousness. They lied to me, about me and tried to drag my integrity through the mud. I filed a complaint with the diocese and a tribunal slapped them for their actions. It didn't stop them, six months later I was fired. Two years later the nun administrator isn't even allowed on church property. A truly evil woman and an indifferent pastor to her evil allowed these conditions to exist.

Perhaps you're confusing "hate" with "debate." Just because people disagree with each other and question each other does not mean they are full of hate. Disdain, perhaps. Hate means you would go out of your way to harm someone. I think very, very few people here would do that. We are all very opinionated and feel strongly about what we believe, which makes for heated arguments. Not a bad thing, in my view, but a very healthy one.

Religion has always been more about "Hate the other" than "Love the other". That is why I am not "religious" or a member of any denomination. I have FAITH and belong to a Non Denominational Church. I believe in Faith and not religion. BIG difference between the two. Religion is today's greatest threat to Christianity. Thanks for the question, and have a great day.

it's an optical illusion. the hatred stands out because, divorced from personal encounters, we read things into some people's words that aren't necessarily there. there are only a few who spread discord, and they feel safe enough behind their keyboards to unleash their self-doubt and self-repression on the cyber world. ignore them or answer them with a good nature. if you feed them more hatred, they will only get stronger.
