I believe people at public schools get the evolution religion shoved down their throats. What choice do people have? They have to learn it to pass class. Is that fair? You can teach LOTS of good science without bringing in evolution religion.Atleast with people door to door, you can say "no thank you" and then move on.Do people call it "shove down your throat" with door to door vaccum sales?Or tell-a-marketers?

I think most people who are looking for religion- or a new church, etc- will do some research and find it for themselves. I think most people who want to talk about G-d or religion will do so at their own place of worship, with their own clergy or with their own family or friends. People DO NOT want people walking up their steps, ringing their bell and disrupting their day to talk religion with strangers with (probably) different beliefs. I personally don't believe in prosilityzing- I don't care what anyone's bible says. Of course, I'm Jewish and we absolutely don't do that. Live and let live

It's rude and disrespectful to bother people in their homes, whether you're pushing religion or selling vacuum cleaners. Your home is supposed to be where you relax with your family and have sanctuary from the rest of the world. Kind of like those rude telemarketers calling you at all hours... do you enjoy it when they interrupt your dinner? Besides, where do you get off going door-to-door telling people about your god, not knowing if the people you are harassing have their own religion? Insulting, disrespectful, and intrusive. Go away.

imagine a pair of nicely dressed Muslims coming to your door
or Atheists, or Hindus (it just doesn't happen)
the platform most monotheists stand upon is they have the only right answer and agree that most of the world is doomed so they must try and "save" or convert others before all is lost and they get a reward for doing so
did you ever stop to think of what being a prize for another looks like?
would you be someone's trophy?
the only solution to this virus is to turn around and do it to others
but there is one more! stop passing on this contagious germ of religion that divides humanity into "us/them"

I do not like telemarketing either. If I want a new phone deal I will souce it myself.
I'm happy with what I have.

I think the situation is that anytime anyone comes to your door, short of it being someone you know, they are attempting to sell you something.

I consider it rude, to be honest. I don't particularly like any salespeople cold-calling me, and that goes double for people selling their religion. If I were interested, I'd seek them out. I don't know if it's "pushing it down your throat," but it's close enough to that obnoxious standard as to be deeply off-putting.

If I want preachin',I know where a church is.Knocking on my door is indeed "shoving it down my throat"or it is assuming I am a blathering idiot that doesn't notice a church on every corner.Either way,it is offensive

Don't come knocking on my door... it's my home and there is no soliciting... I will not tolerate intrusive behavior like that, and neither does my husband.
They get one polite request to leave, then I'll call police for trespassing. I'm worn out on that crap, it's rude and inappropriate.

Not all of them shove it down your throat, but it's still very annoying. I don't like unexpected visitors. It's rude.
Some of the people insist that they leave their literature, and I don't like that. I don't want it.
