He is a canadian citizen, marriage is out of the question. Is there away to apply or recomend him to become a citizen ect? He doesnt have a formal degree in his trade so a work visa is not likley? Can anyone help me? Thank you for your time.

It's doubtful, but perhaps you can financially sponsor him. You need to be able to prove that you can support him financially. I'd really suggest trying to find a business to sponsor him. That would be the best solution.

You being his friend will not help. If he's got significant work experience is some moderate-to-high skill job, he could get sponsored by an employer for a work visa (experience could make up for lack of formal qualifications), and could stay indefinitely in that way, but I'm not sure if there's any route to a green card and then citizenship.

You have him apply like everyone else did and if he makes it okay if not tough. The laws were made to keep the level of non self supporting people out so if he can not find an employer to sponsor him with a job etc. Then he will have to stay there why figure and angle to get around the rules.
