Hi, Drew:
Odd how people who have never ascended into the Third Heaven make void the testimony of one who has. Yet Peter noted the "unstable" wrest Paul's writings to their "own destruction."
God knew all this but has a Bible code to reorient us to the essentials. See http://abiblecode.tripod.com
Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua

This is a classic case of "My God is better than your God". How childish can we get?
The real question should be "Is there a FIRST cause or not". If 'not', the atheists are correct; if there is, you had better support your creator.
The Bible is the work of human hands and minds -- all prone to error. Some believe the work was guided by God and thus free from error -- hard to believe with all the obvious mistakes. However, I leave this decision up to the individual (Faith is believing something you know ain't true - M. Twain).
The Gospel's were written years after Paul's epistles and generally are in support of Paul's theology. However, Paul did not support Torah observant converts and was at 'odds' with Peter, James and John, the true 'first hand' followers of Jesus.
The Christianity followed today is an interpretation of the "Way" advocated by Jesus by an individual who never met Him. (I personally don't think 'visions' should count)
To answer the basic question: Without Paul's letters (and missionary work), you would not have Christianity as we know it today (and probably not at all) !!

The funny thing is, Paul bashing is nothing new, Peter even wrote about it:
2 Peter 3:15 And account [that] the longsuffering of our Lord [is] salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all [his] epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as [they do] also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
It seems the enemy's always been interested in making people shy away from Paul's epistles, and that's just one more reason we should take what he wrote very seriously.
yuri_loves_yasha: The bible doesn't record that Paul killed a single christian, although before he got saved he was obviously in favor of the idea of christians being killed.

Why might you deny your self God's grace, it fairly is what the sacraments carry us? (Orthodox and Catholic information are very comparable). The Bible is the e book of the Church, gathered, precious and defended by way of the undivided church for over 1000 years. The church isn't defined by way of the bible; it fairly is extremely any opposite direction around. The bible is a great jewel, even though it is no longer the church. Jesus did no longer provide us a e book; he gave us himself and left his Church to evangelise and baptise. the place does the Bible say that it is the entire authority for us? It does not. it is functional for guidance, worthwhile to appreciate and learn, yet does not declare to be "it". rather, the Church recognizes this, which Peter wrote approximately Paul:"As additionally in all [his] epistles, speaking in them of those issues; wherein are some issues difficult to be understood, which they that are unlearned and volatile wrest, as [they do] additionally the different scriptures, unto their own destruction." 2 Peter 3:sixteen it fairly is why we even have self belief that the Holy Spirit classes the Church, and did so for 1600 years in the previous protestantism got here alongside: "Howbeit while he, the Spirit of fact, is come, he will instruction manual you into all fact: for he shall no longer talk of himself; yet in besides he shall pay attention, [that] shall he talk: and he will shew you issues to return." John sixteen:13 Now, we Orthodox do insist that there are some places that these days the Roman Church has long previous off the rails. we are able to additionally demonstrate from historic previous that Orthodoxy has guard what the church has taught during the an prolonged time. it is no longer what protestantism teaches. advantages - /Orthodox

I'm not sure that I remember seeing more than one or two bashing St. Paul. You know there are a lot of people who call themselves Christians but aren't. And there are lots of Christians who think they can pick and choose from the Bible or that the Bible is just a collection of men's writings. I've even heard of pastors who think they can pick and choose from the Bible. Of course, these poor folk will maybe find out the hard way that they are misled, but you that's the way folks are.

I believe in my own Faith that there is a perfectly good reason why the letters written by Paul are of great significance to God Himself.
-One reason is because when Jesus Christ was here on earth He said Himself that He came for sinners.
-2nd reason is because after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Image of God waisted no time in forgiveness of sinners. Which is one of the biggies why Paul was chosen to serve as a vessel within the movement of Christianity.
-3rd. The letters that Paul wrote was absolutely meant to be in the bible because in the brief summary in the beginning of the book of Romans it says that Paul was to make a trip to Rome to speak and something happened along the way stopped him from going. Instead Paul wrote the letters. It also states that the book of Romans "is the most powerful theology of history in the bible."
My own Faith tells me that the book of Romans that Paul wrote are very powerful in every intent that is written by him. I believe this because Paul is the first sinner that is recorded to have found redemption by way of the Lord >AFTER THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST.
That is why his words are very important to all who read.
Paul was a man who was saved by the Lord and served a great service to the people who are labeled as sinners in the eyes of God, only because THE LORD CHOSE HIM OUT OF THE SINNERS SACK for redemption. After the resurrection the Lord went fishing so to speak, as He would put it, and who did He catch. He caught Saul. With Paul, sinners are able to follow the Lord from another sinners perspective. Why would the Lord do this? The Lord did this because people in general follow what they can understand and know where they are coming from. With the redemption of Saul the sinner who became Paul the Apostle the Lord new the vessel that Paul would serve, would be to give understanding to those who are already sinners. From a sinner to a sinner By the Lord.
Throughout the whole book of Romans Paul says time and time again that it is not easy following the word. Always Paul comes back and says He followed the Lord anyways no matter how hard it is.
With what I have found personally in the book of Romans is that Paul understood what it is to be a man on the inside. He understood very well the wheel of emotions. The struggle that Paul wrote down has to do with the struggles that sinners go through with just being human beings and not being able to leave sin behind.
I am a person who can say that of all my life in following the Lord out of my own Faith I followed the Lord the way I was told and knew how to follow Him from within side myself I can say that I know the Rock.
I just recently learned of Paul a few years back. When I learned about him I really got into what his book is about. When I read his book, I saw that I went through the same thing in the life that I have in following the Lord. Paul understands emotions very well.
When a person listens to what Paul has to say in his book, and also follows what Paul has told people to do that person will come to find the Rock in there life whom is God Almighty.
I love the book of Romans. It is one of my favorites in the New Testament.
With what rossonero_2006 has put in, the reason why Peter wrote what he wrote is because Peter didn't understand Saul. Peters feelings and emotions are different from that of Sauls because Saul was a sinner and Peter wasn't.

I really don't know why many do not accept them. The closest reason I have heard is he wrote letters to the churches that were not ment to be gospel, but were ment to be guide lines for establishing the church. Many believe that the gospels of Mathew,Mark, luke, and John should be the main part we focus on.

People who reject Paul's writings also have to reject Luke, who wrote about Paul's conversion experience in the book of Acts.
They reject Paul because he teaches the tri-une nature of God (commonly referred to as the Trinity.)
But if they reject that teaching, they also have to reject the book of Revelations, written by John, which shows Jesus as "First and last, alpha and omega" etc.
So, when they reject Paul, they also automatically reject Luke and John.
If the reject Luke and John, then they must also reject Matthew and Mark, since they all wrote about the same incidents in the life of Jesus Christ.
They might as well reject God, while they're at it, for all *I* know.
I mean, it (the Scriptures-66 books of the Bible) all stands or falls together as one unit, as a whole.

a) the guy never met Jesus. He had a stroke and suddenly "saw the light". You don't think this is a little suspect?
b) his homophobia is one of the reasons the coming 2000 years will see your faith buried or changed beyond recognition. Society moves on. Get stuck and join the many mythologies.
