my dog ate some rat poisin last night. she didn't eat alot, about 6 pellets, i found this out by checking the weight of it compared to a new one. it is the d-con generation 1. I gave her hydrogen peroxide last night a few times, she threw up most of it the first time, and a little bit the second. i gave it to her until it stopped coming out - 4 times total. my vet is closed today, will open tomorrow. i don't have the money to take her to the emergency clinic. i am hoping to wait till tomorrow morning. she ingested it about 10 hours ago. anyone have any experience with this? i hear about how most dogs ate the whole bag and the were okay for a few days.

well i took her to the emergency clinic. cost $130.00. vet said that making her throw up with hydrogen peroxide is the best thing to do, and after i told her how much she ate and threw up she said that my dog is more than likely fine, but gave me vitamin k to give her just in case. my dog had parvo when i first got her, cost alot of money to get her taken care of. she is in great health now. i was told that the emergency clinic is about $300. so i really didn't want to take just because i was a little worried. over all i did the right thing before i took her, but better safe than sorry

I had the same problem few years back! It's very poisionous to your dog. What you need to do is make sure she drinks plenty of water. Take her to the vet or the humane society to have her check out. I was told that if I didn't bring my dog in when I did, she would've died, so hurry up and take her to the vet or someone ASAP if you want her to live. Meanwhile, get rid of the pellets and stick with those old fashions one, you know those thing that you gotta pull back and put pb or cheese on it. You should never give her hydrogen peroxide, that's another thing that's poisionous! Good luck! I found a link that will help you! Please read it, it's very thorough and very informative!

Okay after eating a whole bag?. I think not.. We have two standard schnauzers that ate aproximately a third of a bag each.. and had they gone any longer before going to the vet (it was aprox. an hour after) they would both be dead today.. They need a shot.. of... damn, I forgot what they gave them.. potassium maybe?.. or it causes permanent problems in the dog later.. (and I'm thinking that would be regardless of dose of poison)

Hopefully your dogs will make it through until tomorrow, but there is a chance of permanent health issues..

I can't imagine a decent vet NOT having emergency help on the weekends. Maybe cause I live in farm country but vets here are animal doctors, available 24/7. Call and ask, ask, ask.........as others have said it must be done.

It does sound like you care alot and have started emergency help, good for you but it is best to talk to a vet ASAP.

You or a neighbour will have a phone book ( even if it's not for your area ) why not phone around five to ten vets and ask them for information over the phone. At the end of the day they are obligated to give you information due tothe seriousness of the problem.
I would see if the vets would be willing to take monthly instalements from you or see if there is a local charity vets or even take it into the Rspca/ Aspca or whatever you happen to call your local dog shelter. They will look after your dog for you and will actually feel happy that you are being responsible. If your dog dies it will be your fault.

i'm no longer likely to be rude in any respect. Your dads canines could be in basic terms fantastic. He did all the the suited option issues and the vet did all the the suited option issues too. Now your dad has to get the rat poison out of the canines attain. desire he's returned to him self by utilising the following day.

There should be a phone number on the bag for those who let their kids/pets ingest the poison.
Or call the emergency clinic to see what they tell you to do.

10 hours ago, it's to late to do anything now, it's prolly fine. Next time booze it up, it offsets the poision in dcon (kids have made fake LSD from Dcon and the ones that drank didn't have heart attacks or get a buz)

Get rid of poision in your house, before you have another problem with it.

If you want your dog to live, in the end it will be cheaper to get her to any vet now! That poor thing!
