You have a beautiful cat. You do need to learn about cat nutrtion though

Nutrition since there are so many bad things out there is very important to your cat’s health
Contrary to what you may have heard, dry foods are not a great thing to feed a cat.
Dry foods are the number 1 cause of diabetes in cats as well as being a huge contributing factor to kidney disease, obesity, crystals, u.t.i’s and a host of other problems. The problems with it are that they are loaded with carbohydrates which many cats (carnivores) cannot process. Most of the moisture a cat needs is gotten
out of the food and 95% of it is zapped out of dry foods in the processing. Also, most use horrible ingredients and don't use a muscle meat as the primary ingredient and use vegetable based protein versus animal. Not good for an animal that has to eat meat to survive.
You want to pick a canned food w/o gravy (gravy=carbs) that uses a muscle meat as the first ingredient and doesn't have corn at least in the first 3 ingredients if at all. Fancy feast is a middle grade food with 9lives, friskies whiskas lower grade canned and wellness and merrick upper grade human quality foods. Also, dry food is not proven to be better for teeth. Please read about cat nutrition.

She sure looks it but she has lots of fur too. The very best diet food for a cat, the very best food for any cat is high protein and below 10 % carb wet food. You can go to this site and check out all brands of food and choose one that fits my description. Also read the Dr. Lisa site I am posting as she will explain why and how to move your cat over to all wet if you have trouble.
A cat losing weight is like a person. So if a cat is eating dry, it is eating lots of carbs and junk. It is like you or myself eating loads of bread and cake and twinkes and then wonder why we gain. A cat is an obligate carnivore and actually is on a very poor diet if given dry. Contrary to popular opinion dry food does nothing for the teeth. A cats jaws are made to tear, shred and swallow. They don't chew.
If you check cat barf you will see mostly the whole pieces of the dry food and the little that isn't has just shattered in the cats mouth.
You can see a 7 month old cat with rotten teeth that all need removal and you can see a 22 year old cat that has always been on an appropriate wet diet that has never needed more than the yearly dental cleaning all cats should have.
Cats are like people some people never have cavities and some do every check up.
Please read the links I have put in and if you have questions write me.
Your girl is beautiful. Try and get her to play etc. I must say my cat was never over weight in fact was under weight but when she became diabetic she was put on the canned food only with the boundries being the high protein and low carb choosen from the chart I gave you the link to. She had NEVER in 12 years played with toys. Never batted anything around nothing. after going on the wet food she gained the 5 pounds needed ( fat cats lose as it is more filling than dry carb crack and they eat less) and she began to play! She is now the proud owner of mice and balls and toys and she bats them around and runs like a kitten. Cats just plain feel better when put on the food they were made to have.
Good luck. I would love to hear from you as to how you do.
Bonnie

She might be a bit chubby, but you can't really tell from the photo because she has such long hair. She's very cute! Ask your vet. You didn't tell us how much she weighs.

Ken is right on target. We use Wellness and other similar foods that use human grade ingredients. Naturally, your kitty will lose some weight if she eats better food. She is probably eating so much because the cat food she is eating does not contain the nutrients she needs.

That cat looks pretty fat to me. If you have to squeeze really hard to feel a cat's ribs, then he is too fat. Put food in his supper dish once in the morning and once at night. If there is still food in the dish 20 minutes later, take it away. Get your cat to be more active too. Play with him, get him to chase a ball or something. Or put him out the back door, making him walk around to the front to get back in.

Remember, your cat should be hungry all the time except for right after supper. A hungry (not starving of course!) cat is a healthy cat.

your cat looks a little overweight, but It's difficult to tell because of all the fluff! It's not about which Cat food you feed her, but about when and how often you are feeding her. Does she get titbits from the table? Are you over-feeding her? Remember as well, cats are predators and may be eating other things outside, or worse, one of your neighbours may be feeding her too. We tried the single serve pouches (2 a day) and giving her a small portion of dried food during the day, and my little cat is now little again! She was forever looking for food, but we just had to be firm.

If you are concerned about your cat's weight, then take her to the veterinarian. A vet will weigh your cat, and tell you if your cat should lose weight. If you want your cat to be more active, encourage her to play with toys. Cats like to swat at and grab for things dangling in front of them, and move around to get at the object, so you could hold a ribbon or even a bag in front of her, and move it around. Then she will probably move to grab at it. You could also get a leash and walk her outside around your yard or street. Ask a vet what the best food to buy her is.

She is cute. My cat is a little overweight and I just started giving her half cat food (normal kind) and half Iams Weight Control. Her normal food is Iams Tuna or somthing. She seems to like it. Your cat seems fine, maybe a little big, hard to tell from that angle.

She looks okay - and ADORABLE! My big boy weighs 23 lbs, but he's a Maine Coon, so they're big all over.

I started feeding him Iams Indoor Cat Formula. He really doesn't eat all that much - he's just husky! That might be something to try....

Just a little bit, it looks like. I would take her to the vet, and ask them if she needs to diet, and see if they can give you a healthier food for her, hope I helped you!
