Because the (GOOD) book by most accounts is heepum (Malaprop) full of a angry GOD. HE has killed HIS people for whining and what seems to me minor transgressions. If so did he send a space chunk (Malaprop) to wipe out HIS creations because they were incapable of worship, 65 million years ago. If so why didn't HE speed up the evolution process and get HIS worshipers sooner. I mean christians want us to believe that our 24 hour day is important to GOD, that every hour could be spent doing HIS work. Now we've established that christians are definatly diveded into two camps, ones that believe in evolution (NOW) and ones that believe the earth is about 6000 years old and evolution starts with Adam&Eve in HIS likeness, not microbial. Now should we humans fear GOD'S wrath, I mean HE could easily send another asteroid (space chunk) and let us all know HE'S still in charge. Now don't be offended that I refer to HIM,HE,HIS I do that out of a profound knowledge that all religious text are male.

In the Bible, he certainly has one. It's comforting for humans to think there is a god that is like us and has our emotions, otherwise he could be thought of as a creepy alien-like voyeur. Plus it's the simple minded way of explaining away natural disaster or supporting some of the more outrageous stories of the bible, instead of submitting to the idea that what they've believed so deeply is possibly conjured BY man and just may not be true.
Also it's really convenient to say, god is doing these things to our planet because he is mad, instead of taking responsibility for our actions that have caused such damage to it and start making changes to rectify it. The latter is much more difficult.
Lastly, a kind and completely forgiving god wouldn't be feared. So it would be quite difficult for churches to keep their followers around, supplying them with money weekly, if they told them that god doesn't care what you do and you go to heaven no matter what. But then, what would be the purpose of organized religion - if not to control it's followers?

yes
God has a temper. Some people have pushed God to the limits. In which case God has destroyed cities and the whole earth ( the great flood ) at one time.
How ever, God is a forgiving God as well, he sent Jesus, who is also known as Micheal, His son, to the Earth to save us from his fathers wrath.
God can not stand sin. He kills sin. With the killing of sin, people tend to die as well, because we just can not let go of sin. Jesus has come to redeem us.

John 14:6 (New International Version)

6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Very much so. God will sit back until he can't watch no more. Just like the end of time we will see his temper again. When he comes back and takes all his people and put satan and all his followers in hell. ARMAGEDDON is scary read Revelations

Two Gods are portrayed for "comparing", not mixture;
For the mixture of "contrary" things is an oxy-MORON.

Grace: I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. Friend.
Law: I will forsake you, the city & your fathers. Enmity.

Higher God: in heaven: "higher than the heavens".
God on high: in midst of plural divided L/R heavens

Grace us: Grace worketh mercy, which is constructive
Awful Lawful: Law worketh Wrath, which is destructive

Spirit: neither tempts(laws) nor can be tempted(lawed)
Ghost: gets tempted(lawed), and has really bad temper

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
